The welcome was perfect, we arrived by car and parked as close to the hotel as possible - after checking in at reception I was escorted to the underground parking garage and took my car down in a lift to the secure parking area. We stayed in a good sized executive room which had free WiFi and had been recently refurbished, and there was a massive king sized bed that was very comfortable and a fridge and a nice flat screen tv with lots of channels. We asked for extra pillows and got them immedia.
all reviews » The rooms in the Alexander had been done to a very good standard for a small hotel. The breakfast room was small but very clean, the food was lovely with lots of selection and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent for a the major sites of the city and was right in the heart of a lively area with numerous bars and restaurants to choose from. It was also only a ten minute walk from the station and transportation links. Overall i would definitely recommend this hote. We loved the location of this hotel, right on the Niederdorfstrasse. We walked to/from the Bahnhoff to the hotel (about 5-7 minute walk). We went during the Zurifest weekend, and were pleasantly surprised that noise was not a problem. There are many restaurants, bars, clubs just outside the door, plus also on the next street over (right along the Limmat River). We really enjoyed our stay here. Right in the old town where location couldn't have been better. Staff very friendly and informative. ATMs close by, lots of restaurants and main sights of Zurich. Room was small but compact, good bathroom with nice tub/shower combo-- had room in courtyard so it was quiet. Usual breakfast with friendly staff -- good cappuchino. Wd stay again. The cleanliness. The hotel old but good enough to stay, very close to main station, in the old city, you don't need any transportation, by walking more then enough. Room is comfortable. The lobby is small and old gives bad impression. Room might be small as all hotels in Europe but fare for two persons. This hotel doesn't have facilities like gym for example which is not important for me. Zurich is expensive for what you get -otherwise it's a great small hotel in a terrific location. It's a bit noisy at times, at night, due to the few restaurants and bars below however it wasn't loud music, just patrons leaving at night that was loud. It wasn't overwhelming so i could still sleep through. Bathroom is so small. Breakfast was not as good as previously described. It was quite basic. We stayed in room 301 and the noise of the lift nearby was awful as their was a constant buzzing during the evening. Car parking is far away and expensive. Lack of meeting room. No place for business meeting. The shower wouldn't drain. It really needed some unclogging. Thin walls. I heard & felt every other person entering their suite. The doors slam closed & shake the building. Nothing. No air conditioner No complimentary items on the fridge The toilet and bed sheets doesn't feel clean I've stayed for 2 nights but they gave me internet connection for 15 hours only!!!. Bathroom very small, BUT it is nice and a one at a time room. Why do people expect large bathrooms in old European buildings?. Though it has private place for carpark but it is not in the hotel. It took 5-min walk to reach the car. It is not convenient when to load the luggages. Shower was not great, shower curtain kept falling down. A bit expensive. Not a big problem but there was no kettle like devices. Found hotel difficult to find. The only disturbance is the noise from the street in the rooms facing the street, especially on Saturday nights. Nothing really. We were at the dude if the hotel and there was a bit if noise at 6 am from the delivery trucks at the supermarket next door. No minibar, only fridge (which is good to keep your own drinks fresh). can´t complain about anything. Nothing. lift works slowly. Nothing this is a good value for Zurich you can spend the money you saved on a great meal. Nothing. The pillows have no substance.
