all reviews » Friendly staff, polite and sincere. Good price for a simple modern ensuite. Very clean too. I was only visiting Toronto for 2 nights on a budget and only used the room for sleeping in as I spent most of my time out so it suited me well. Good location, within 1 or 2 miles from the CN tower etc. I didn't use the kitchen on laundry so can't comment on those. The staff were friendly and helpful. The private room I stayed in the first two nights was a good size with its own bathroom, TV and writing desk. It was very quiet all three nights of my stay. I felt very secure behind three locked doors, not including my room door lock. The location was great. The price and location cannot be beat. It's right near U of Toronto and Kensington Market. The private bath room was comfy and good sized. Some people complained about cooking smells and rules, but it did not bother me in the least. This is like a gist Ouse, not a hotel. Room and bed big enough. Enough showers and toilets. Kaisar (host) is very friendly and willing to help you. Refrigerator available. Location is great (between university and downtown, near subway). There is nothing not to like. Check-in was quick and friendly and the room was spotless. Very good value for money. We will definitely stay here again. Coin laundry on site was handy Good central location All in all, good cheap stay if you can overlook the first impression/difficulties. The location is great - walk to Chinatown, walk to University, walk to the Royal Ontario Museum. The price was much cheaper than any hotel I could get at the time It was very quiet (apparently the Karaoke place other travelors mentioned is no longer or was silent). Comfortable bed, very friendly managers. + 5% above total amount if, you will pay by credit card.... But, that is the rule & i know before go. The buzzer wasn't working/being monitored when I arrived so I was waiting for a while outside. Eventually phoned the number which was expensive as had to phone using UK tariff. The staff were very friendly and apologetic for the delay but the buzzer needs checking. The third night I had to move to a room with shared bath with one other person. It wasn't a huge deal, still very quiet, but the room was very small, no TV and only $5 less than the first room. The booking page said cable TV but there was one channel. The room did not get sheets, towels or cleaned the two nights I stayed. Wifi is a bit slow. Rooms are a bit noisy because of the thin walls. Lack of air conditioning. That was the only thing that would give me pause about staying here again, especially during the summer. Parking spot was about 5 minute walk away ...but not too bad... Nothing!!!. Air conditioning in the hallway but not in the room; multiple clauses (no food in the room, visitor restrictions) not apparent until arrival; outdoor shoe prohibited but no size selections for provided indoor slippers; shared bathroom is the size of a stall; price was great but there are other choices even at this price. Very hard to find - its a hidden black gate on the street...Parking is not on site, it was down another street in front of someone's house (not sure who's) checking in was difficult - they didn't hear the door bell/want to answer?? so have their phone number handy!. The room was windowless and tiny - it is a hostel after all! Don't park on the street - I got a ticket - but go across the street closer to Spadina, there is a cheap and convenient lot for $7 a day, $5 a night. I wish someone had said that earlier. The smallerst toilets and bathrooms I've EVER seen. The place looks like a maze, lots of stairs and corridors with little signals. Well, I had to cancel my stay a few days before and they charged me as if I had stayed there. That's a horrible way to do business. Moreover, the staff didn't respond my emails when I asked them about refunds/whether there would be a penalty fee, they simply ignored it. I will never book this guest house again and will definitely not recommend it to my friends.
