The staff at Alexandra hotel were very kind and exceptionally accommodating in all our encounters during our brief (1-night) stay. Since we were coming from the States, we didn't have any Canadian currency, and the front desk staff readily provided currency exchange for any amount needed. They also let us store our bags after our night there, so we wouldn't have to lug them around for the whole day before our late evening return back to the States. The facilities were really clean, the location.
all reviews » The place is very nice and we were moved to another room after the bedbug issue and we were haven quarters heat up our laundry. The owners handled it well and took immediate action. We did not get a discount or $$ for the inconvenience but we didn't ask for it either. I wanted them to take the complaint seriously, which it was. That night and the next day they were working on the room. Excellent location, bedding new & clean, token parking cost ($5/night), sufficient room for 3 (parents + teen), kitchen facilities in room, good price, extremely quiet and seemingly safe neighborhood. Overall: affordable, safe, clean, & convenient. Surrounding buildings are predominantly single-family homes. Great view of CN Tower from our room. location in the parc with a swimming pool and many places for different sports walk distance to the city centre possibility to cook basic food in case of any trips the best pick-up point is in the fron of the nerest Super 8 Hotel Spadina street (10 minutes walk) cable access to the internet free on charge. Location and cost. Fascinating district, everywhere is within walking distance including the university, China town, Little Italy, Downtown. It borders Alexandra Park and a hundred fascinating streets with a thousand different personalities. The area is full of young people of all stripes and formats. -The owner was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. -We had issue with on the date that we leave when we book online, and we didn't know until after we pay. They refunded the full amount. -Free wifi and a kitchen inside the room -Very Clean, and comfortable beds -Near Chinatown and bus stops. The location is really good and the hotel is pretty clean. There is a small kitchen with clean dishes and supplies, so you can cook if you're not in the mood to go out and eat. The parking is safe and pretty cheap ($5 a day). There is also free fresh coffee any time of the day. The hotel was only a 10-15 min walk to downtown, was quiet and had great view of the CN Tower and downtown. I booked the Alexandria because of the kitchenette and made use of it. The room was perfect for my needs, grateful for free wifi and small parking fee. The hotel is a little tired looking and it is not for the traveller who wants a palatial room with lots of chi chi boutiques on the main floor. -10-15 minutes walk to chinatown main street -the area was a bit odd at first with so many homeless on the street, but they didn't bother us after we got use to it. -Parking was not free but $5 per night per day, which is odd, but fine for the price. I just wish it was free since we never could even use the car -We book for 3 people, but somehow it came in for only 2 persons even though we had confirmation. So an extra $10 per night per person. The staff were okay but not as nice and helpful as you want them to be. There is no kind of breakfast or food service, not even for purchase. All you can get are some really stale cookies and chocolate bars. The only thing that made the room unpleasant was an "off" smell, perhaps just needed a carpet cleaning. I just sprayed an essential room scent to mask. Found the deodoriser had too strong a scent so I bought some air freshener. No breakfast. Room a bit dated and small, but still comfortable. Nearest high street a bit too lively for my liking... I'm sure no real threat but I did feel a bit uncomfortable. There are other routes to the hotel! I parked under a tree and some fruit fell onto my car, which stuck like glue. I had to clean and power wash car twice to get it off so don't park under the tree!. Room smelled 'stale' if windows were closed (opening windows solved problem). 'Thin' walls allowed noise from other guests to be heard. Nearby school was noisy. We enjoyed our stay. a little dated but clean. No complaints. Had trouble with getting air conditioner to work properly but in fairness to staff I didn't ask for their help. I did finally get it to work. Next time I would ask for a room on a higher level where I can open a window. fridge noise at night,bathroom could do with updateing,. lock in first room was broken, moved to a second room, less secure (ground floor), and the doorknob kept coming off. lack of coffee in the room. Not as clean as i would like and furnishings abit old. Close to Chinatown. Everything in the room was old. Refrigerator was frozen everything. It's budget accommodation which we knew when we booked, so nothing to dislike really - dated and a bit ragged around the edges but we felt safe and had all we needed. overall a pleasant stay - in need of some "infrastructure" updating; but met expectations for the price. Double bed too soft, verticals in windows needed to be replaced. Room a bit small, equipment/furniture in the room a bit outdated. Smelly room - reeked of stale smoke, may be used to be smoking room or just old. Told the staff, they sent someone with air refreshener no avail got a warning notice on my car after paying for the parking - staff mistake really old, no reno. Dirty, not cleaned at all, very small apartment, building old and need maintenances. They put inappropriate charges on my account, didn't tell me and hid the charges on the bill so I couldn't find them. Also, they charged more than what was arranged through Booking,com and told me if I didn't like it to go elsewhere. So they tried to steal from me , tried to cheat me out of money, lied to me and basically told me to go to hell if I didn't like it!!! NEVER give your business to people who cheat you out of money and lie to you. Not the most pleasant nor comfortable, not clean, out dated and certainly not the best in respect to wiring!. It smelled really bad.
