It is also conveniently located for the railway station, for easy access to the Yorkshire countryside, Scarborough and Whitby, as well as the beaches at Filey and Robin Hood's Bay, and the uplands of the Wolds, the Moors and the Dales.

i was staying there for work and the hotel had a verry homely feel to it. i will deff stat there next time im working in york. Staff were very friendly and helpful. How helpful the owner was. very helpful service by the staff - particularly when booking out - early breakfast provided because we were getting an early train. We had bought plants in york and the staff were very helpful in the care and packing of these plants. Thank you. Excellent service, all staff very friendly and helpful, making for a most pleasant stay. Bed (most importantly!,) was very comfortable. Excellent choice of drinks in room and alternastive diet provision-soya/vegetarian, thanks!. Nice clean good breakfast will make you a little or a lot and friendly and a nice walk into city centre only about 10-15 mins walk if strolling.Room had exceptional views of York and the minster. it was a pleasure to stop there,highly recomended. Friendly hosts,wonderful breakfast. Good value. Within close proximity of city centre (5-10 min walk), parking for car and excellent cooked breakfast. TV reception poor, lack of storage shelf in bathroom. Cost was too high considering it was more like a BandB than a hotel. No services (food, bar, etc), but the town is only a few minutes walk. Also, from the parking to our room it was four flights up, you were ready for the bed when you got there. Room needs up-dating especially the bathroom. No hot food in breakfast and there is only one chair in twin bed room. The bed was uncomfortable, I believe the matress needs replacing!!!. Do not have a bedroom at the front if you can help it - the road is a main one and the traffic very noisey. The bedroom was stuffy and we had to have the window open, not really conducive to a good nights sleep.
