Conveniently positioned near Lancaster Gate tube station, this hotel is very near Hyde Park and a shortish walk from Oxford Street and the West End. Staff were friendly, pleasant, helpful and relaxed. Lots of space in the bedrooms. reasonable sized room .Location. It's not really something that I did not like but this is clearly a building which had a grand past and whose glory has faded somewhat. I am quite happy with that - and would describe it as character.

The hotel is just metres away from Lancaster Gate London Underground station. The close proximity to the London Underground network offers easy, convenient access to the whole of London and all of its attractions.

The Averard is AA and RAC listed.

Please be advised that the hotel presently has scaffolding covering the front and side façades. This scaffolding will be in place until the end of summer 2008. These works will not inconvenience guests.

Trains depart every 15 minutes and the journey time is 15 minutes. The hotel is just 5 minutes’ walk from London Paddington station or alternatively, taxis are readily available from just outside the station. You could also take the Tube to Lancaster Gate London Underground station, which is less than 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel.

The A2 Airbus also runs directly from the airport to Lancaster Gate station.

By Air (from London Gatwick Airport):
The Gatwick Express train leaves from Gatwick Airport’s South Terminal building and runs to London Victoria station. Trains depart every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day. Taxis are readily available from just outside Victoria station or you can take the Tube to Lancaster Gate London Underground station, which is less than 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel.

By Air (from London Stansted Airport):
The Stansted Express train runs regularly from Stansted Airport to London Liverpool Street train station. Trains depart frequently and the journey time is 30 minutes. From Liverpool Street station, take the Central line (red) on the London Underground directly to Lancaster Gate station.
