the staff from our arrival were more than helpfull, and went out there way to find us a nice resturant to eat in and made the reservation for us. the hotel and the staff were brilliant!. The location and view from our room was excellent as was the room itself. The staff were friendly and informative and the restaurant and bar were both good.I like the staff, the comfort was great although the Hotel did smell slightly damp!.
all reviews » A fantastic hotel with excellent views and a great spa. the facilities, the breakfast, the room. Everything. Room was quiet and comfortable. Enjoyed the swim in the leisure pool. Good food. Superb choices for breakfast. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed we had ever slept in and the breakfast was amazing!!!. Friendliness of staff who make you feel welcome and the room is very comfortable. The pool and leisure facilities, the breakfast and the comfortable beds. i thought that the hotel staff were all very nice and very helpfull. The room was very comfortable.Very easy to find, very welcoming and helpful staff, excellant rooms and the location was perfect either to walk and bus in to York, a perfect stay for our romantic weekend. The all around standard of the hotel was fantastic and we willdefinately stop in the Marriott Hotel again.the staff and leisure facilities. food. although the hotel was getting refurbished we were not inconvienienced too much and were made very welcome by all the staff who werel very nice and polite. overall a pleasant hotel to stay. The Breakfast was very good, everything was well cooked aand the there was plenty of choice. It is well situated and is only a 10 min walk to the city walls and have tremendous views of the race course. I liked the breakfast at the hotel, also the use of the pool and steam room etc. The room was nice and i got a room with a view like i requested.Breakfast in bed. Used the pool and leisure faculties. staff friendly. The evening meal was absolutly terrible, the sardine starter was out of a can!! the roast beef was overcooked and a reheated taste the vegetables were also over cooked, it was a rip off I dont mind paying for good quality food...but it didnt apply here!!. Wines were quite expensive. The shabbiness and constant smell of bleach in some areas. there was nothing i could critisise about the hotel and staff. was very disapointed when we arrived back to our room on sat eve we had put the wet towels on thebathroom floor like it said only to find out that they had been folded back up and put on the shelf the bed was not made we did talk to the recepition staff who said sorry and they replaced the towels but it was a little disapointing. jaccuzi pool was'nt hot enough. Service in the restaurant was far too slow.......very poor!!. Undergoing some renovation, half hour delay at breakfast Sunday, due to reduced restaurant facilities, this may also have been the cause of the evenings poor and cold food served in the bar, although a refund and replacement, was readily given on one exceptionally cold meal. I would have liked to have been informed about the renovation work being carried out on the hotel prior to booking. The biggest complaint was the hotel bar, which locked up all spirits and wines at about 11 o'clock meaning that if you wanted a drink it had to be draft lager, this was ridiculous as that is the time when people are more likely to want a spirit or a short drink!. I found some staff were more helpful than others, some of them would go out of their way to go and get you a newspaper from the shop across the road, while others just left you to get on with any problems you had. Queuing for breakfast. Being told that booking a double room does not mean you will get one. Finding the towels hadn't been changed. The first room they gave us was very nice room, but unfortunately it was a double bed.the second room was alot smaller and darker, but I didn't want to change rooms again. have stayed before but this room was much smaller,not very clean and bed uncomfortable.
