Location, free parking, it was only a short walk into York centre.Excellent service, good food. very polite staff. Will go again. Friendly helpful staff. Well kept rooms. Excellent parking. Very quiet and staff pleasant. We stayed during the coldest time of the year, but were never once chilly in the Hotel. The room was always comfortably warm. Breakfast was freshly cooked and excellent. We vistied the Indian Restaraunt advertised, with a 20% discount if staying at the Hotel and found everything delightful. All in all both excellent value for money. Very friendly welcome, good food and pleasant atmosphere throughout. Overkill on the air freshners - 3 in small shower room. the thermostat on the shower did not work so the temperature went from freezing cold to boiling hot so it was impossible to have a proper shower this was reported to the staff i don't think it will be solved as the previos guests had mentioned it on there stay on 20/01/08. nothing wrong with the hotel but the reviews we read were about another hotel of the same name just up the road and shown on the same review page. Room was a little small. Nothing major, a leaky shower and window fastening that needed repairing. i found the ensuite cold but was only staying one night. Room and en-suite bathroom were very small.not heater after 12 pm. Staff a little creepy, no hot water in shower, more than 5 minutes walkfrom centre.Room / linen not that clean and a bit dated. Booked a double room, only to be given a twin.

Information about the area
The B&B is close to the city centre and just a 5 minute walk will take you to the heart of York. In York you can visit many popular tourist attractions such as York Minster, the city walls, the Jorvik Viking centre and The Shambles. There are many bars, clubs and restaurants in the surrounding area. The B&B is just up the road from St Johns College and is opposite York District Hospital.

All rooms have been fully refurbished and come with a mini plasma TV on a wall bracket. All rooms are en suite with power showers and standard facilites. A hairdryer and iron are available on request.
Travelling information
By Car (from York train station):
- From the train station we are 12 minutes away; as you come out of the station take a left and carry on straight down until you approach a bend which you will see some traffic lights.
- Stay left towards the bend following it round until you come to the bridge.
- Go over the bridge to the bottom where you will come to a set of traffic lights.
- Turn left at the lights past the art gallery then you will approach more lights stay in the right hand lane and go straight up the road (Gillygate).
- Once you have reached the end of Gillygate you will go past St Johns College.
- Carry on straight down until you have approached the last set of traffic lights.
- Stay in the right hand lane going past the independent pub and 50 yards down turn right and you will have reached Park View Guest House.
