The whole atmosphere of the Bowen Hotel was great, the lady of the house was most friendly and happy to oblige with requests for an early breakfast. The breakfast was excellent down to three fresh berries to go with the cereals. Wonderful. The guesthouse owner, Diane, is very welcoming and helpful. The guesthouse is a 10 minute walk to the old town gates. The rooms are small, but are well designed with everything you need. Excellent full breakfasts are included.
all reviews » I booked the room for my Fiancés 21st birthday, when we got up to our room they had put banners up for him which was lovely. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, room was lovely and comfortable and breakfast was gorgeous!. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was superb! Room was clean and free wifi an unexpected bonus! Pleasant ten minute stroll to city centre. A great location for a short break in this charming city. Bowen House was very clean and comfortable and the hosts were very friendly and obliging. Although we did not want the full english, the breakfasts were very good. York city center was in easy walking distance. we had a very warm welcome. leaflets were given to us which were very helpful. The biscuits.which were fresh every day were appreciated.Also a number of thoughtful touches which aded to our ci=omfort. - proximity to York City center (10 minutes walking) while still in a quite area - clean room with all the necessary amenities - the breakfast service - helpful and friendly staff. We had to move our car a couple of times in order to allow other guests off the tiny carpark. the car space was not good but thats not the hotels fault. A bit too far out of York City Centre. Don't know what the other rooms were like, but ours was small, but probably reflected the price we paid. Nothing. Room a little small. Nothing. nothing. A bit hard to find with gps. The room was very small and the car parking was not very good.
