short distance (5min) to the public transportation dock and maybe 15 min

They also said that despite flood the hotel had no problems and they were looking forward to their guests to arrive. We decided go and stay their. An easy walk from Piazzale Roma bus station and Santa Lucia train station (no boat to catch, no dragging suitcases through the heavy tourist traffic). There was absolutely no noise from the train station or the canal adjacent the apartments.

The apartment was a lovely surprise. The building is quite new on two levels curving around a canal with a residential piazza at the front. The apartment we had is upstairs, sparkling clean, light, comfortable and well equipped. It is located a 10 minute walk from the station. We couldn't find it immediately but on the second walk past we realised that each house has its own number in the locality, rather than a street number. The location was excellent. It was fairly easy to find after leaving the waterbus from the airport; and in a good spot to get to all of the “must see” sights. It was lovely to return to the relative calm of the beautiful square, where the hotel was situated, at the end of a busy day of walking and taking all that is La Serenissima.
