This was our 2nd time.we never stay in the same hotel twice but wecannot fault this hotel in anyway. We go away to hotels regularly buthotel is by far the nicest.the night after we stayed this time we stayedin a 5star in cork and there was no comparison.The staff are extremelyfriendly without being intrusive. The hotel is spotless. The facilitiesare excellant and views panaramic. the fabulous bright textured reception area, the lovely room, the fabulous setting/location, the walk to the water, the history of the space with the old walls, the friendly staff, proximity to rural cork country and kinsale village (town?), mini bus for transport to kinsale if required. loved that it was out of urban setting a little.
all reviews » We are very impressed with the way in which were accomadated and greeted especially by Charyl who was very courteous and polite. We enjoyed a fab Irish breakfast with wonderful views and staff who are extremley kind and helpful. All and all we enjoyed the stay and will hopefully come back again. Loved everything about the hotel - would highly recommend it - attended the hotel for a family wedding - everything was first class. Beautiful location, especially with sea view. Handy free shuttle bus into the town centre. Good breakfast. The whole stay at The Carlton Hotel was fantastic. Definately recommend the Spa and Leisure Facilities.Beautiful picturesque location, superb hotel and perfect location for a relaxing break. Receptionist was lovely. Breakfast was very good. Room was very comfortable. The whole stay was excellent and will certainly be returning. Staff excellent, rooms excellent overall excellent. The peace, tranquility and the relaxed atmosphere. the staff at the hotel were very helpfull and the information i received from the staff about the rest of irland made the holiday the best yet. The rooms were nicely designed, spacious and comfortable. The hotel is located in a beautiful area with fabulous views. Nothing. They even have a shuttle bus to kinsale this year which madethe stay even better. The check in staff were so informative also. Loveit and it takes a lot for me to say that. I have reccomended this hotel. my eggs tasted of fish-yuk!, there was no stairs to the 3rd floor where the room was (lift only), the walk along the water should be longer and a round trip, signs from the cork side were desperate. sign from kinsale only and AT the turn itself- lots of missing and turning around done! saw it was 90 acres - thought there would be more 'walks' around the space. I feel that entertainment would be an extreme advantage as Kinsale is a fair distance. My other issue would also include your bar menu which i certainly feel could be made a little more exciting as this would suit certain individuals who are staying only for a short period. Please bear in mind that a lot of you cutomers travel a fair distance and would be quiet happy to just relax in the hotel. Allotacated interconnecting room that had a baby screaming eventhough hotel was quiet. Bar food could be extended a bit. Check out time is 11am which is too early.When I phoned to make enquiries, i was told to visit the website which I found quite unfriendly - what does one do if one does not have a computer?. the atmosphere in the bar area is not great: a bit cool. Lighting in bedroom. dinner experience breakfast was poor. No view, I expect to get room with view to bay. Bathroom lighting system too dark did not know hotel 4 kilometersfrom kinsale. Restaurant was expensive. We spent 2 nights in the hotel. There was a wedding reception on both nights, a lot of noise from people smoking in the car park till the early hours.Was not possible to eat (for 1person) until 9pm, Sunday night. Staff seem to have been trained to ask repeatedly, if everything OK; not convinced that was genuine. why no bottled drinking water in rooms. Would have liked to have been able to have had a sandwich in the bar, but could not because we arrived a little after 9p,m. yes,the jacuzzi,no.of showers in dressing room,were broken.breakfast staff were very un effeicent.due to outer problem,we had woken up to no water facilities.what was suppose to be a niteaway break from the kids,want what we paid for.
