Gread location. Staff were more than helpfull. Very comfortable and very well priced. Great location, right in the centre of Galway, good service and a nice room.When we arrived,we were upgraded complimentary,hotel staff very frendly. Staff was excellant and 2 dining options on site. all reviews » Use of thr Hot Tub. we liked the hotels central location ,super friendly and helpful staff ,room was excellent and on a very wet weekend was very warm and welcoming .The wedding reception we attended, everything was perfect.Using the hotel health centre and having a lovely massage on Sunday moring.. easy access to city and a very comfortable and warm lobby where you could sit and relax.Breakfast and the canadian tub were wonderful. very central and very clean. i loved the location it was right in eyre square, i also loved the square spa and leisure centre on the top floor, i got hot stone massage i would recommend anybody who stays here to book in for one. the staff were so friendly and the service was excellent. We really enjoyed the large and varied selection of buffet breakast, and the spa especially the canadian outdoor hot tub, i had a fantastic massage, also the valet parking!. superb location and beautifully decorated rooms, very spacious. The door was bit unsteady, it had a crack in it, should really be replaced for safety.I was in a room to the front of the Hotel and while it was lovely to look out at Eyre Square during the day it was noisy at nighttime. I acknowledge this is not the Hotel's fault. When it states that the rooms have satelite tv, there is actually a limited selection of channels, so I think this should be stated. also the twin room we stayed in was quiet small,we have stayed in 3 star hotels with larger rooms.no parking available in the hotel car park, noise from night club very clearly heard in the bedroom. Outside noise from the train station. Room was quite stuffy.Room was small and very warm. The room was very warm it needs air conditioning. The fact that when I arrived they had no record of my booking and I had to print out my confirmation letter from Booking.com to prove my case. Once this was done - they did make an effort to faciltate me however I feel they could have given me a better price after all the inconvenience. the rooms were very small with two single beds pushed together and not the double we had booked. this might seem silly to give out about but for the price we paid for our stay i was disappointed and expected 4 star service that i don't think the room provided.it was end of race week and the hotel seemed quite jaded........ no fire lighting in reception area, no high stools at the bar, small round tin tables in bar instead of proper tables, which as a result meant no atmosphere.........disappointing. Hotel is becoming due for another make over - decoration a little tired but this wasn'r serious problem for us.No pool, sauna, limited gym. I booked an executive double room so I was expecting it to be perfectbecause of the money I paid. So I was not very happy to find my bed wasonly 2 single beds stuck together.No resolution to my overpriced room. Colour scheme, too dark and dull. Bar was closed very early (12 or before). One toilet hidden away and not signed.Room was very run dow.. windows wouldnt open properly handles broken off them. Bathroom tiny!!!!!. The decor in the dining room was very gloomy - black everywhere including carpets. Poor lighting. Was it designed by a funeral director?. the room and value for money. The staff in the restaurant reacted like you were inconveniencing them if you asked for something at breakfast.The TV changed channel every 5 minutes, the room was freezing cold and took all night for the radiator to start working. A very noisy roon, it sounded like we slept on top of a boiler. The was no Consiage available and no umberella to borrow. Lack of air conditioning and constant noise from plant at rear and despite being upgraded it was not a suitable room for this price level.

By Car:
- From Dublin, travelling out of the city, follow signs for the West.
- This will lead to the N4 to Kinnegad.
- From there, follow the signs for Galway and take the N6.
- This leads straight to Galway.
- Before Galway city, you will approach a series of roundabouts:
- N6 junction with N18: At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit.
- N6 junction with N18 (North): At the roundabout, proceed forward.
- N6 junction with N6 (East)/N6 (West): At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit.
- N6 junction with R339: At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit.
- N6 junction for Galway City East: At the roundabout, proceed forward.
- R336 junction with N17: At the roundabout, take the 1st exit for R336 (signposted City Centre).
- R336 junction with N6 (East): At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit.
- Travelling via the R336, you will arrive at Eyre Square. The hotel is on the left-hand side of the square.

- From Shannon, leaving Shannon Airport, Galway will be clearly signposted. Take the N18 to Galway.

By Train:
There is a train service from Galway to Dublin with connections from other main towns and cities in the country. Trains leave from Heuston Station in Dublin for Galway. The railway station is to the rear of the Great Southern Hotel and there is no need for transfers.
