This is the second time I've stayed in the Shelbourne Hotel and will definitely be returning. Stayed with a friend of mine just for a night away to catch up and do some shopping etc. location is absolutely perfect, a short stroll to Grafton Street, and surrounded by great pubs and restaurants. Hotel itself is stunning with a beautiful lobby and bar area. Staff are faultless...so friendly, polite and helpful. We were given a beautiful room on the top floor overlooking the Green...we had only boo.
all reviews » Absolutely loved this hotel! Was weighing up whether to stay at the Westbury or her and we were so glad we picked the Shelbourne! It is just in a class of its own and seems to have more on at night too. You could just sit in the elegant foyer and people-watch all day! Everything in this hotel was as you would expect for a 5* hotel. At no point did we think something was amiss as is often the case in other hotels. Even the staff on the doors remember you when you return from a day out! It is sli. Location is excellent staff very good. My room when I arrived approx 3.30pm ,the curtains were closed so I pulled them open to find myself being over looked by two floors of offices With staff I closed curtains quickly and went down to lounge as in the middle of June I would expect to be able to rest in my room with out being overlooked especially as I was paying 420 euro for one night .a bit annoyed to see an offer of b&b for less than half that on the breakfast table the following mo. Service was excellent all the way around starting from when we emerged from our taxi - the doorman, bellman, concierge, room service. Definitely exceeds 5 star rates - the room was beautifully appointed with all the accoutrements, wake up call had a live person! The waiter in the Lord Mayor's lounge was also so accommodating & this placed turned out to have our most memorable dining experience during our 2 week stay in Ireland. Was so close to Grafton Street & all kinds of restaurants &. the whole experience from getting out of the taxi to the complimentary pink lemonade, chocolate the very professional and helpful staff it was a very surreal experience .The only negative I would have is the rooms r quite bland and could with bit of work compared 2 the marvellous hotel bars and downstairs décor the overwhelming feeling of luxury u get here dosent continue in the bedrooms but we had a fantastic weekend the best hotel ive stayed in the best staff ever felt like royality. Excellent location for all aspects of life in Dublin. Pleasantly surprised during check in to be advised we had been upgraded to a Kingsize luxury room. SaddleRoom Restaurant provided an excellent freshly cooked albeit buffet breakfast choice. A special mention to Eamon, Food & Beverage Director who went out of his way to look after us given the hotel was extremely busy given all the Christmas parties taking place. Afternoon tea an absolute delight. Almost all staff were really really nice, and we'll excuse the evening manager who perhaps was a little stressed with Ireland rugby team coming back to the hotel and accessing their rooms same time as we were. Super breakfast, smart restaurant, nice bars and separate area for residents as bars do get busy when there is an event in town like the rugby. From the moment of arrival at the front door felt treated like loyalty, even though I was dressed ever so casually. All of the staff should take a bow. What an amazing experience of kindness and hospitality.Every query was dealt with such patience and professionalism. Thank you for that is ye. Pretty well everything about the Shelbourne Hotel, especially the staff. Always attentive and friendly, and interested in you in a genuine way, not just being polite. On arrival, was allocated a room with just a shower no bath, not the bathroom we expected - bathroom had facilities for persons with a disability, so wardrobe very small, however the room was changed when we asked. I was staying with my daughter and had booked a twin bedded room and understood that we would be allocated a room with 2 double beds. We in fact had only one double bed to share and the hotel said that letsbookhotel.com had not passed our preference on to the hotel. They had no twin bedded room to offer us. Expensive. There was nothing I didn't like about the hotel. We weren't sure if some items in our room were complimentary (water, lemonade, chocolate). Turns out they were and it was a very nice touch, but it would have been nice to know. Nothing too dislike. Bar service a bit slow due to the open house policy in the main bar at peak times. There was a residence only area but not as enticing as main bar. Nothinh. noisy air con rooms a bit small. The reception is very crowed, a lot people for social/business events!!. that we had to check out:). A little bit expensive would be good what's more special offers. Nothing. weather.
