The staff were friendly, You dont have to go anywhere because tequilla bar attracts night life with belly dancers, fire eaters, disco competitions and a live band. Free massages every third day, balinese cooking lessions, balinese language lessons, Art, free bintang poolside and tequilla bar and the list of free stuff goes on. Value for money galore. The beach is literally two steps you just need to cross the road and the guest accummalate on the beach for sunset and pictures are exchanged and .
all reviews » The hotel is located at the nice end of the beach. The hotel is next to an upmarket market shopping mall with lots of bars and restaurants to eat in. We only ate in the same place once, because it was so good! The hotel food is fairly priced and good for a hotel of this price, the pool area is very nice and has a bar in the pool. Part of our stay included a local festival, "Silent Day" when we weren't allowed to leave the resort, however staff were on hand with entertainment and activities insi. I don't have any complaints about my 1 week stay in this hotel.Except that the shower sometimes didn't have much power or the water did not become very warm.But that was not a problem for me.Clean spacious rooms,beautifull swimmingpool with lots of sunbeds and free use of pooltowels,excellent breakfast with Western and Asian food and the location was very central as well just behind the beach,next to a new shoppingmall.Only a few minutes walk if you want to enjoy the nightlife in the Skygarden . Staff/Location/Atmosphere/Food/ Bar/Room. This is a nice hotel for the price and we hope the hotel management will keep up the good work with out increasing the prices.just in front of the Kuta beach and in a location where its not too busy and in a place where a hotel should be. The Grand Istana Rama was a great place to stay for two weeks with our teenage children. The staff surprised our son by making a massive chocolate cake with 'happy birthday' and his name written in chocolate. Great value for money and I really enjoyed taking part in the Indonesian/Balinese language classes and cooking classes (all free classes). We all loved it there and will definately be back. Room, price, food and beverage vouchers, staff, massage, water sport, everything! I have stayed. Twice and am now flying to bali every 3 rd week and will always stay with u . The only Inconvience is the shower is cold, I know the pipes r long and I'm guessing its just heated up by the days sun but really now nice having cold showers in the morning :/. We loved the location, right opposite the beach and walking distance to everything we needed and wverywere we wanted to go. The gardens are beautiful and well kept. The pool area was good but the water was way to warm with little relief from the heat. Take advantage of the free photo we had a lot of fun with our photos taken on the beach. But it's free anyway, no big deal to complain. Shower cold. Nothing really we were really happy staying at grand Istana Rama and would recommend this hotel. I cannot fault this hotel really. We have stayed here twice before and loved our room but this time, because of availability, we were given a small room with no balcony and just one window in the bathroom. We were told that a double was not available and were given two singles pushed together. There also was a lot of noise from other guests in the hallway in the early hours of the morning. I would expect this style of accommodation if I were paying budget prices. The hotel is a little tired in furnishings in some places but still nice. This is reflected in excellent pricing. The hotel is used! Our door was falling apart and so was the mirror. It needs some new paiting and renovation. The pool was closed 2 days out of 5 because of weddings and they played music at the weddings to after 12 and u could hear that pretty loud in the room. Special Offer Voucher for Dinner n free Beer: served very little portion of spaghetti on big plate, we didn't drink beer can't have change to soft drinks as compliments. The food n drinks are very expensive. Buffet Dinner's foods.....so so.(Buffet Breakfast was very good n fair price). Bathrooms can be more cleaner. We had some issues with the bathroom,we changed rooms and that solved it.Our air conditioner could have been more efficient,but it wasn't too much of an issue.Some days I think the room could have been given more attention,occasionally tea bags etc weren't replaced not too big of a deal though. The bathrooms really need to be refurbished. The dinner voucher needs to be called a dinner snack or pre-dinner snack as it was nice but not a dinner. Don't expect too much from the "dinner included", as its size is that of a small starter. Breakfast not included in price. Would never come again during silent day. Our mistake. Apart from excellent food, service at breakfast was very poor - always having to chase up tea or coffee person and usually waiting for milk for long periods also. This was on a daily basis - even though staff were lovely, they could definitely improve on customer service. Nothing. House keeping wasn't very good. I had children wearing nappies and had to keep ringing house keeping to clean my room even though I had the sign hanging on the door. Used some coffee cups for spaghetti for my daughter, when I asked for new cups, he just came in and washed them in the sink. Could of done that myself. Didn't want to be using the water as black stuff would come out of tap when first turned on. Burger from "McBuds" ordered when at the pool was only bad meal I had - don't try it. The Aussie burger at the restaurant was great. Getting charged 22,000 Rp for a 600ml bottle of water in the restaurant which is only 3,500 Rp in their shop - only 30 secs away. Learned after first time!!. Some small details in the cleaning of the room, but nothing important. It was hard to get some information about the best taxi prices. The hotel has their own taxi drivers, so it is difficult to find out if they offer you a reasonable price. They also wanted a deposit of 70 euros and we never got it back, although we asked several times. The coupons which they provide as free for bar. the timings are so odd that you can not enjoy free coupons and my all coupons I can not njoy. they should provide rather free gift coupons for daily one with no time restriction. definitely not 4 stars hotel (E.U. or USA standard), old towels, no AC in reception, crazy official price - we had a promo, but still very good hotel closed to the beach. Nothing comes to mind. Everything is a little tired, very much needing a makeover. The bathrooms were old and falling apart. The towels that were provided were stained and ripped at times...it gave the impression that they had been used for many years. Everything was great. Very limited shopping nearby. The adjacent mall contains primarily luxury stores. A little run down but everything funktion well. The dinner offered as part of a paquet was more like a snack. Have stayed at this hotel 5 times, but is starting to look a bit tired. Rooms needs an upgrade. Old facilities. None -this is not new hotel, but veey clean and in good condition. There was nothing wrong with the food in the hotel but it was really average. You can eat a lot nicer for the same, less money. Pool and bathroom could do with some re-tiling work Pack a bottle opener as all mini bar beer and waters have caps on and not one provided. Furniture is not up to date anymore and quite old.
