Beautiful heritage property in the upper old town of Quebec City, within the old city walls. Balti the owner is very hospitable and a lovely lady. She makes the breakfasts herself and does a fantastic job. Her English is very limited and you definitely need to speak at least a little French but it's good fun! Our room was a triple and although it said shared bathroom on the booking, we luckily had a small ensuite in the room. The room itself was a good size and we were at the top of the house f. all reviews »
The host was amazing! She welcomed us in right away, helped us with parking, offered us something to drink, and gave us directions to where ever we wanted to go. She let us decide when we wanted to have breakfast and it was always ready at that time. Her breakfast were really good and healthy. All in all, the bed and breakfast was nice, the host was very nice, and the location in Quebec City was the best. Close to everything! I recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit Quebec City. For ev.
The hosts were fabulous, friendly, helpful, food for breakfast was excellent. Was clean, I had small ensure, so some rooms appear to have one, others you share a bathroom. Hosts husband drives taxi so it's easy to get to the airport whenever you need to, or they'll call you a taxi if Amil is not available.
Breakfasts were varied daily and creative. Owner fun and loquacious.
Location great. Late arrival handled very well by owner.
Staff was friendly and the place was decently clean.
Parking is expensive and minimal in Quebec city. We had to park 10 mins away for our 2 day stay. You must also provide a credit card to enter a carpark. If you need to park close by I would suggest other accommodations in the old town have underground garages available. Balti only accepts cash payments and so we had to go searching for a bank upon checking out to pay for our stay.
Made it a bit more tricky that you needed to pay in cash for accommodation. What else was there not to like? Nothing!.
Somewhat pricey for two at $155.
Unlike places in Europe where you go and put the food of your choice on
your plate (buffet style), they serve you the food directly on your
plate, then stay with you to chat. Not all food is to everyone's
taste (I.E. I don't like to eat anything sweet for a meal and
they'd serve pancakes), and they seemed to get a tad offended when
you didn't want to eat the food you were served - since it's
all home made. Not a big deal, but it did cause a bit of awkwardness in
the mornings.
