The hotel was absolutely fabulous! It was in a great location, walking distance from the shops on 5th avenue, Time Square ( if you don't mind walking 30 minutes), Madison Square garden, Megabus/Bolt drop off and pick up locations, PENN Station and literally seconds away from subway/Train station. The room design was very modern ( TV In restroom, remote control windown curtains, multiple-shower head standing shower). Comfortable beds. They have a really cute downstairs lounge called the Living .
all reviews » The location was perfect for what we were there for. It was so easy to get anywhere from our hotel location. It was right next to the subway station, making it simple to go uptown to downtown and anywhere in between. The staff was very helpful and friendly! We also loved the atmosphere!! The live band downstairs was great (besides the fact that we could hear it in our room the first night). I really enjoy that its out of the main tourist area of Times Square. Many more local restaurants and excellent bakeries and markets. It is a fun quirky Hotel where all the staff is very interested in your comfort and happiness without being pompus. The rooms are equal or better than some hotels costing considerably more. Great location, beautiful rooms, with incredibly helpful and accommodating staff. Cannot praise the staff at the Flatiron enough! We stayed here for two nights, one being the night before our wedding and they made our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as they could. Is Very familiar. From an architect/designer perspective, this layout of the floor plan is interesting, the spacial quality and lighting design is great! Had to call downstairs for ice all the time since there was no ice room but the staff was always at the room less than 3 mins after call was placed. The first room we stayed in was very loud because of the live band playing downstairs. We were directly above the live band the first night, but were then moved to a different room where we could not hear any noise at all. The band played until 1:00 am or so, but did not bother us too much because we were out most of that time!. I liked everything!!. Nothing. Lower floor rooms might be little bit uncomfortable due to noise from everyday concerts in the bar downstairs, but just ask for higher floor and everything will be perfect :). We called to ask for more bath towels on our first night and they never came. Our travel was to visit New York and area. We had a rental car, however we had to park it in the Newark Penn station, and travel to Manhatten by train. After the New Jersey train, and the New York subway, travel time from Manhatten to the hotel was just over an hour. They did not serve breakfast. I called for ice several times and it didn't come but I made do with the amount I had. I got a deal for my stay-50% off. Dont think it would have worth paying the full price. Had to ring reception 4 times in 3 days as things were not replaced by house keeping, ie, one day we were left with no face cloths or hand towels or toilet roll!!!. The pillows were a bit hard. Whats not to like?. The heat was inconsistent. When the thermostat was on it blew hot air right over the bed and it was uncomfortable to sleep. room size is very small!!!! you can barely open the suitcase there. Loud music from 1st floor. Way too noisy because of the band playing and singing in the lobby at 12:30 am. Could not hear what the front desk clerk was saying at check in. Noise was unacceptable on the fourth floor at $300 a night! Ridiculously expensive for no ability to sleep. Very Noisy. Could hear subway even on 10th floor. TV reception was not good. Kept fading in and out. Doesn't Have breakfast, too Much noise in The lobby in The begining of The night. The shower drain was plugged and would not drain properly. Nothing. The subway noise, the performance noise(everyday), no pool, no gym, can't have the access to the roof garden. It's not a typical star hotel, it's more a designer type, not all the user will find this hotel luxury. It's expensive, the rooms decor is out of date. If you are traveling for leisure, the location is less than ideal. Money taken from visa card before consultation and agreement. Too many electronic devices. Bedside table one side only. Inconvenient drawer space. Bedside lights high on ceiling;needs reading lamps on each side of bed. Tasteless coffee.No cups in bathroom and no toilet seat cover or shelf space. Did not like the room with one queen bed, too small. Did not like no coffee in the morning. Too much noise until 2-3 am in the morning. Room Photos are deceiving. Too expensive. No facilities. - very noisy in the bar until 1am, unable to sleep - breakfast very bad and expensive - very bad value for money.
