The family-run Rockville Hotel is situated in a seaside suburb of Edinburgh, within 5 miles from the city centre. Most of the rooms within the Rockville offer panoramic sea views. The hotel has 2 restaurants and a bar area, each offering striking views across the sea. The restaurants offer separate à la carte and children’s menus and source local produce whenever possible. A full Scottish breakfast is served daily.

The location of the Rockville Pub just on the fringe of Edinburgh right on the shores of the Firth of Forth was very convenient and relaxing. Bus transport is very close and facilitates tours of Edinburgh Castle, tour of the Britannia, etc. The Portobello boardwalk offers a great place for a walk from the pub. The hotel had a great atmosphere, with all the staff being very friendly and welcoming. The whole hotel was very clean. Being able to enjoy drinks at the bar then dinner at the restaur.
all reviews » The location of Rockville was fantastic - right on the Firth of Forth - literally (the waves lap at the seawall under the hotel at high tide!) Views from the window of Room 3 were amazing! It was very convenient having such a nice restaurant and bar right there. Buses into town stop just outside the hotel and run every 15 minutes or so. There's tons to do in nearby Edinburgh, or you can just spend time at the beach in Portobello. I especially appreciated the free computer with internet acc. For a small hotel the rooms were comfortable and well furnished. The bathroom was small but well appointed, a good electric power shower, plent of space for toiletries, I also loved the two different colour sets of towels, so you can tell which is yours(I hate sharing a towel even with my other half!). A lovely freshly cooked breakfast - no toast machine!!! We are in the restaurant and again no complaints, plus it's lovely to look out over the Firth as you enjoy your meal. If you are into music. Fabulous staff, really friendly and helpful. Location is absolutely gorgeous, we had a view of the sun rising over the sea from our bedroom and the restaurant was right on the sea front with big panorama windows. Gorgeous rooms as well, very well decorated and spacious. Breakfast was of the typical Scottish variety - bacon, sausage, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes etc., with a choice of porridge and a lovely fruit cocktail if you preferred. Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable accommodation, varied options on dinner menu,wine list very competitively priced, very good value overall. Our room had views over the bay although we were not charged extra for this. I would not hesitate to stay here in future if the owners can continue to keep this standard. The Rockvill hotel is fantastic. It is located on the Firth of Forth and is out of the busy city but there is a bus right outside that takes you into Edinburgh. The people are friendly and very helpful. The restaurant is excellent. We really enjoyed out time there. Excellent seaside location with uninterrupted views out to sea, yet within easy reach of City Centre by bus. Friendly staff, cosy bar and good breakfast. Good value. Our first visit, but will definitely use this hotel on next visit to Edinburgh. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating, the room was spacious, clean and tidy. The hotel was in a beautiful location next to the sea and on a direct bus route into Edinbrough (No. 26). We would definitely stay there again. Friendly Staff and Owner. The room was enormous and beautifully decorated. The seaside location was stunning and meant it was easy to do great walks along the sea front. Loved it!. Right on the Firth of Forth, close to Portobello beach and shops, 26 & 15 bus stops across the road with direct route to city ..... delightful stay. The hotel was lovely the views were nice and it was very convenient with the bus route into edinburgh. Had a lovely time and would definately go back. the view the help from everyone and ease on every thing . a good night was had by all on friday and the food was the best. amazing and stunning sea view from rooms and restaurant. we enjoyed our stay very much. best place to stay. location, room overlooking water, friendly efficient staff, good food, comfortable room, very good value. Our room faced the water so it was quiet. Staff very friendly. food and the hospitality,the sea view over the forth is lovely. The breakfast is really rich. Room, View and size of place. the location and the food. Hotel staff excellent. Nothing, at all. The shower for room 3 is very small - not a problem for me but anyone who requires more space should ask for a different room. The tile area of the shower could also use a little scrubbing, especially in corners/under the showerhead. The only small minus was the 30 minute bus ride into town. Buses are frequent and really no hassle, but when taking a day trip at 9 am we really had to get breakfast done quickly. Everything was served promptly by the efficient staff, we just couldn't linger watching the view as long as we liked. The only very small issue we can think of was we couldn`t find sample menu on website. No negatives at all. The only thing I can mention was the toilet lid would not stay up. evenings very quiet after meals served.Bar closed if no other customers present. Nothing. would have liked a tumbler for water in the bedroom and sanitry bin in the loo other wise all was well all was tip top audery. Nothing. Dont think there was anything I didnt like about our break. tidying dining room while still at dinner. TV reception was a bit on and off in our room. Appeared to be a loose plug into the wall. There was nothing that we didn't like. The room is a little small. the heat in the rooms in hot weather.
