the river by the pool with birds singing and taking refuge in them. the gym with the punching bag for boxing, spa, pilate courses staff will do anything for you close to sky train, just 5 meters from back hotel close to boat stop, that leads you all along river, very good to travel in bangkok traffic the lobby has the most excellent pianist and singer, beautiful jazz, or sinatra song many people in the lobby: indians, israelis, french, you can have many good conversations.
all reviews » Everything was of luxury standard from booking in to departure. We chose the Horizon Club and appreciated the extra benefits it offered. This includes a top 3 floor position and view of the river, and all day snacks and non alcoholic and the happy hour each night. It is placed in the luxury price bracket, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We loved the view from our balcony. The Thai restaurant was amazing the food is spectacular! The breakfast was lovely. The concierge were helpful telling us places where to go and what attire to wear in the temples. All of the staff were amazing and very helpful. We felt very welcome. Will definitely visit shangri la again! Thank you!. Nicely located at the river, even so not in the central business area easy connection by sky train. Even so the rooms need some freshening up, they offer all comfort and the service provded by the staff is outstanding. I stayed in the Krungthep wing, which offers additional amenities like free breakfast, afternoon tea and coctails. If you want to experience the river front but still keep it mobile and luxurious, this is your hotel. It's right beside the Saphan Taksin train stop, the place is huge and well cared for, luxuries abound. Excellent gym with Muay Thai classes, river cruises, great breakfasts, friendly and worldly staff. Absolutely fantastic hotel. Although we were by no means high paying customers, we had a basic room. Of the 3 Shangri-La hotels we stayed in on this trip (KL, Golden Sands Penang & Bangkok), this was by far the best. The hotel is luxurious, well staffed, and managed. When I expressed dismay about the closeness of the special building to the highway which goes over the river, the management immediately agreed to give us a lovely room in the older section, where we were very happy. I liked everything, the attentive staff, the beautiful decorations, the cleanliness, the food and the cocktails, the pool and the gym. The location is perfect with a breathtaking view over the river and next to the skytrain. we will be back for sure!. The Shangri-la Bangkok is s truly 5* facility. It starts from check-in with a personal welcome, perfectly prepared and clean room over to second-to- none facilities (restaurant, wellness, pool etc) and the location directly at the river. It is a fantastic hotel, well located with lovely helpful staff as always with Shangri La. And I would specially like to commend Khun Ms. Sasiphan who did a wonderful job with the reservations, making everything perfect. Shangri-la is centrally located and easy commute to all attractions. Get a room with a view of the river for hours of entertainment. Pool is fantastic and relaxing. Staff were welcoming and very helpful. I will be back. The inadequate response by staff to the situation. Rien. Just a minor power blackout incident that was promptly fixed. Decoration ´s rooms is a little old time. i stayed for 2 nights and spent around 18,000/- per night but they dint offer free Breakfast also. Not much that I did not like. Restaurants are very expensive. The location of the hotel is not helped by the fact that the hotel-owned shuttle boats to River City run only until 4.30 pm. At the spa, the shower in our room was not working properly and we were not offered to change room or use the tube instead, the masseurs were rushing us, overall the spa was over-rated and too expensive for the mediocre service. That was definitely the low pt of our trip. We stayed in Krungthep Wing which needs some updating and refurbishment. staff at reception & concierge Italian restaurant small old room. Drinks are pricey but similar to other 5 star hotels. Looks a bi tired in places. Not as central as some other hotels. i did not get my special type of masala tea and they could do more in terms off 24 hrs room service menu and more off halaal food selections in breakfast buffet. Terrible over priced dinner at the Italian restaurant in the hotel (Angellini). The chef should be replaced! The food was also bad in the casual restaurant. I had a sandwich that was so awful I couldn't eat it. If they can make good breakfast why are the dinners so awful. Also poor system for getting taxis. We waited 30 minutes at the front door and almost missed our dinner reservation. Only real negative was a rather silly email sent before our arrival suggesting we might consider paying the night before to ensure our room was available if we arrived early. In fairness when I expressed some annoyance in my return email we found our room actually ready when we arrived so it seems as if they listened! Only other criticism is the exorbitant cost of drinks- but I guess that's not unique in Bangkok hotels. No champagne available in the club section - other hotels I stay at offer this as a beverage for their club patrons. Nothing. Allocation of smoking room which smelt badly of smoke, People taking loungers by pool and not using them for hours. Also smoking should only be allowed in small area away from everyone. To reach to boating trip or to enjoy river side in the early night time is confusing though day time approach is very easy. pricey food.
