The hotel is beautiful, fancy, very clean and the room was big and comfortable. The staff was excellent, could speak English very well and was always helpful. They have directions printed out to major attractions and can explain every step of the trip very well. The staff also gives good advice on where to go and what to do in Osaka. We had free espresso every day (we had a Nespresso machine in the room). Great location, across from Minami district, full of shops, restaurants etc. there is also.
all reviews » We stayed three separate nights during our two week tour to Japan. First night in Japan, straight from Kensai Airport, it was the best choice for our fairly late arrival. On our third visit we were told they had upgraded us to a larger room, which also had a larger and -for us- a more comfortable bed (most beds in Japan are fairly hard). Each time he staff was extremely courteous and could not be faulted on. On our last day in Osaka our plane did not leave until evening, but there was no prob. The location of the Swissotel Nankai Osaka is first-rate. A very easy train trip direct from Kansai (tip - get the Rapi:t, for a little bit extra you hardly stop along the journey of 38mins). Namba is a brilliant location with easy walking access to an incredible array of shopping and eating. Of course, Dotombori is not to be missed, and a simple 6 minute walk takes you right to the heart of the action! Don't forget to explore the incredible variety of stores and restaurants that exist undergro. The service from the staff was excellent from the moment we stepped in till we left the facilities to board the express train to Kansai airport. They were even kind enough to escort us to our train! Special appreciation to Ikumenee at the concierge desk to helped with directions and suggestions on where to go. Location is very convenient right above the train station and shopping mall. This hotel is definitely the place to stay in Osaka. We will definitely be staying here again on your next tri. This is a great hotel in a very convenient location with friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are stylishly decorated and are very comfortable. The hotel is adjacent to the Nankai station (for the airport express) and Namba subway station, the high end Takashimaya department store and the smart Namba Parks boutique complex, while endless arcades of speciality shops and eateries are nearby. It is in a perfect location in downtown Osaka with almost anything you need within 5 - 10 minutes walking distance. Hotel staffs are friendly and speaks excellent English. Concierge provides nice paper slip which details transportation routes to key attraction places, so good that I need no further direction guidance in the subway mazes. The restaurant seemed a very expensive option, however we didn't try them, rather opting to eat in restaurants that offered a truly Japanese experience, including following the Osaka tradition of 'kuiadore'. Nothing. Everything was perfect!. The lobby is on 6th Floor instead of street level, and going from the room to the street requires a lift to the lobby, and another to the street level. The restaurants are all very formal and expensive and there's a lost opportunity to turn part of the large lobby space into an all day casual eatery and coffee shop. We stayed four nights and ate only once at the hotel. If you request a late check out, be sure to ascertain the exact extra cost. Direction are definitely adequate in guiding the hotel guests. Swissotel Nankai could up its service stake by having a concierge providing luggage services from requesting foreign guests upon arrival from kia. You need to change the lift twice every time you leave and arrive at the hotel. Initially hard to navigate into the hotel from the entrance of the Namba station. Gets better over time. Nothing really. There seems to be a stench at the escalator near the entrance. Probably coming from the sewage near the train station. Perhaps a package that comes with breakfast should be made available. The upgrade cost offered subsequently by the hotel that comes with the breakfast is on the high side. Nothing to complain about. Cannot think of anything at the moment. I'm not a fan of the move of hotels to do away with top sheets and just have dooners. In the Swissotel they are way too thick and you need the room to be freezing to be comfortable. Bring back top sheets. None. na. 1. Check in time at 3 was too late for early arrival. 2. The room lighting could be brighter. -Nothing that I didn't like, except I was given to choose Twin Room or Double room, I selected Twin room, but ended up upon check in the they told me letsbookhotel.com didn't inform them and Twin is full. letsbookhotel.com should pay attention on this. There is nothing we didn't like about this excellent hotel. No foreign language tv channels. Had planned the final day of our holiday to have a swiss fondue. Very sad to find the restaurant closed for that day. In all my travels have never before seen a major restaurant closed in a large hotel. checked in time is too late. From train station to hotel, there is no lift but only escalator. Inconvenient and maybe dangerous too with luggages. cannot complain. TV channels only in Japanese. Multi level elevators. My room was not cleaned properly still dusty other than an apology n reclean there was no other compensation in t form of perhaps a soft drink etc n hotel only allows late check out of one hour that is 1pm n our flight was 1145 pm . Minimum facilities. A bit cold. Access to the street is a maze.
