Staff were generally great and very friendly. Arif (Manager) was excellent...he fixed our problems straight away...(it shouldn't have needed escalation to him to sort things out though!) Rooms are very comfortable (we had a Deluxe) Grounds are immaculately kept and stunning. Location is good and security is excellent. Breakfast buffet is extensive in choice of different foods. Also great quality.

They were so friendly and attentive. We live in Dubai with so many top hotels but the staff here beats anywhere in Dubai. We have already recommended this hotel to everyone. Used to be the Sofitel brand and the service then was outstanding was not just good then. has gone down a bit. It is still very good value to for the money in Seminyak. The staff were excellent. I stayed in a one bedroom Villa which was really lovely. It was located very close to the beach and the pool area. the breakfast buffet was excellent. This was an amazing resort. The resort's location steps away from the beach in Semyniak is a clear plus with the possibility to rent a surf board to practice. Reception staff weren't as helpful as they could have been, they needed to be badgered to fix issues. Some rooms are getting a bit tired and the shower in ours didn't get hot! (We moved rooms...eventually). The breakfast are is dark and dingy although it has a view to the beach, but alang alang ceilings dark wood floor. Evening meals need attention. Some meals that were brought to my rooms were not eaten as they were certainly below standard. The one meal that was good value was the buffet, but most of the other nights the restaurant left a lot to be desired. In the end we ate out. In the gymnasium the rowing machine needs new straps. The shuttles that go to Seminyak center and Kuta were not quite frequent, like ~2 or 3 times a day. But you would reach Seminyak center by walking 15 minutes by the beach...and Kuta with a taxi!. The location of the hotel. The beach has black voulcanic sand which is ugly. Just 1,5-2 km away there are nice yellow sandy beached but not at The Royal beach hotel. There are very few nice shops around the hotel, so every evening we had to go by taxi to Legian-Kuta for shopping and night life which was very inconvinient. I didn't like our room being so far away from reception and there is no other way to get there quicker. I didn't like one time when it took so long to get a cab from the hotel that we ended up having to go out on the street to get a cab. Not enough choice of restaurants and limited entertainment. A. Very poor airconditioning in the room. It is old so nothing they could do about it. They need to change this urgently. B. Water pressure in toilets very poor. C. The tour prices from the hotel are 3 times of that outside. Best to book tours from outside or just take the car from the hotel and do the tour with help from google. We liked everything about this resort. I had trouble with the swipe card for access to the Villa and could not seem to get anyone to help me. After walking back to reception 3 times which was a long way from the Villa, I finally got some help. I think there was an issue with understanding English. A number of details can be definitely improved included the staff's support (it took the restaurant over one hour to serve us two salads and a clod wrap on our first lunch in the resort), the fact that room keys very easily de-magnetize themselves and the fact that the seats are availabe only with an additional fee. Nothing!. The food at the Capri restaurant was mediocre at best and overpriced by Bali standards. I was very disappointed in pur room. In need of an update. Not value for money. I have stayed in other hotels in bali where the hotel throws in a complimentary masssage or free transfers. Nothing complimentary here. I was first time in Indonesia and was surprised by the chaos outside of the hotel. far away from Kuta down town . Nothing. Hotel is getting a bit old and is need of a revamp The staff are helpful but you do have to ask eg getting a coffee in the morning if you don't ask they don't offer. We had asked for a pick up at the airport and they didn't show up. We booked an excursion for 10 hours which lasted 8 hours. Even if they told us that it was working based on the hours consumed, we had to argue to paid only for 8 hours. Not funny !. Bathroom lighting was poor for shaving. Mosquitos in the room. Felt like one of a million patrons, no particular personal attention (especially in comparison to a resort we stayed at in Ubud just a few nights prior) Just very typical of a big hotel chain. Facilities were fine, just nothing brilliant for the money paid, probably won't stay again unless a super cheap deal comes up. Air conditioning room always felt damp.
