Once we had got our bearings inside the hotel, we found everything extremely convenient. The room was very well equipped, and the bed superbly comfortable. The breakfast seemed to us too expensive, but in retrospect and considering what was on offer, perhaps we should have tried it at least once. I managed to leave a bag behind, and the staff were outstandingly helpful. The staff were excellent, particularly the front desk, they were knowledgeable about local access, e.g. trains, buses, trams, shopping. The restaurant staff were also friendly and helpful.The apartment was very comfortable, down to the heated floor in the bathroom, a spacious shower area and quality fittings.

Great. The rooms were beautifully decorated and immaculately clean, as were the public areas. The rooms were quiet and the beds comfortable. We dined in the restaurant one evening and the food was excellent. Although not a cheap place to stay, we felt it was good value for such a high standard. This is a hotel of individual character with courteous staff who execute personal service of the highest quality. The atmosphere is not at all stuffy, as they manage to strike that (often difficult to achieve) perfect balance. The bars and kitchen were also excellent. There is a wonderful spa, which is really relaxing after a great day walking in open air museum called Gent. A wonderfull city to spend with the one at least I love. This hotel is the cherry on your cake and really is a superb hotel to give you a great holiday fever. Everything about the hotel was great. The front desk were super helpful, and arranged taxis etc for us. The hotel is a very nice hotel, and somewhere we will go back to see more of Gent. Great place - stay in Ghent many times and always stay at the same hotel but this time there was a big wedding party there, so we chose somewhere different. Having a coffee machine available in the room with no option to use it, either complimentary coffee or pay, a morning coffee would have been very welcomed. These are only small areas, overall the hotel was excellent. Breakfast, at 20 euros, was overpriced. But then, I didn't have to eat it, did I?. Check-in was a bit chaotic as even people arriving 20mins before check-in time were told to come back later. That's all. if I had to be really critical the only thing I can find is that it would have been nice if the waiter serving us at dinner, who was also on breakfast the following morning had greeted us and ackowledged recognition - but this is a minor nit picking point. Not being shown to our room & having to then work out how the air con, TV & shower works. Not having any drawers in the room. Breakfast is very Expensive. You can find nice coffee shops in the area to enjoy good breakfast. Restrictions on parking space. We had to park in the street. No coffee machine available in the room. Problems with the heating system. the bathroom was very cold. - Room was a little bit cold even though we increased room temperature - Breakfast was not included in the room price (20 euro). Everything was perfect. My room smelled smokey although the hotel has a no-smoking policy. Background music in the breakfast area can be somewhat softer and more quiet. Prefer smooth jazz instead of hard core jazz. That I only got to stay one night. Difficult to see which spaces could be used in the car park and which were private. Good selection for breakfast, but the hot food was cold!. No umbrella's available when having to walk from main building (where we had breakfast) to our room in other building while raining. Cuisine is a bit overrated : "the tarte tatin" is too much a cheap Dutch interpretation of the original. Staff is friendly but we could not appreciate the maitre d'hotel blaiming one of her young staff in public. Nothing really. Some staff members were mistrustful of my integrity. A gentleman at the dinning room chased me thinking I left without paying. I was getting information at the front desk. Another staff was asking for return of adapter when I needed it to charge my phone during my last night of stay. - works on street in front of hotel -> noise in the morning. Unfortunately in the restaurant they have only two high chairs and we had to wait for another family to finish breakfast before we could start our. Check in time in the hotel is 3 pm but we only got the key at 4 pm as rooms were not ready! This was not nice when you have a baby and reception staff was not that professional with the update. I had to chase them instead. Strong smell of cigarette smoke on the corridors. Sometimes strange smell in the rooms. Having said that regarding the styling, the timber floors meant that anytime furniture was moved in an adjoining room the noise carried through so whether late at night or early in the morning I found incredibly frustrating. An easy fix would be felt under the furniture legs instead of the plastic. The room was very tastefully done but left little room for luggage. If my husband had have been traveling with me then we would have struggled for floor space. There was too much hype and publicity about the Gent Jazz Festival, many artists who were not "real" jazz. Hotel seemed desperate to "oversell" this festival. The dj in the bar area was too loud, even when we left to the big bar area. Could not enjoy a simple drink with soft background music. The facade of the hotel makes the entry strange. Parking was difficult and nowhere to stop the car in front of the hotel. Rooms in the new building a little out of fashion yet very comfortable and well equipped. I would recommend going for the deluxe rooms. not a very good choice of food if you fancied something plain no facilities in room for making a hot drink. Pool and fitness outside main building so when cold it is really unconfortable. Breaxfast expensive compared to room rate. Was a little disappointed in the breakfast, the hot option was a little poor and the bread on offer very mundane. Why not some quality local breads?. Price is a little bit high if you book a room with breakfast. Would be better if breakfast was cheaper. Reception area not in keeping with hotels of similar standard. The hotel room was cold, we were not able just to sit and read comfortably in the room without feeling cold. We tried to turned the temperature up, but didn't help at all. We think €20 per person for the breakfast is a bit too expensive.
