1) the facilities are modern 2) very clean 3) individual bathroom on the 2nd floor was really good because I was able to prepare myself without being interrupted by other patrons 4) although the blanket was quite light it was surprisingly warm. I had a pleasant sleep during the cold Melbourne night 5) 24 hours front desk is awesome. all reviews » The Staff was really friendly and they help me with everything I needed. The Hostel is well organised and clean. They have a lot of activities going on. But at the same time, they are able to keep the hostel calm, so you can choose or join the activities or resting in your room. It is a really good place to be. -close to southern cross station - close to the airport link shuttle -staff were extremely helpful-24/7 reception -bed v comfortable - probably because I'd been up for 23 hours!! The location is very convenient to southern cross station where the airport bus stop. Its strong point is obviously the situation : around 5 mns to Southern Cross Station, (when you are coming from the airport, it's amazing) and trams. But it is also very very clean. the location is good, city circle tram can be taken in front of the gate and it takes about 30 minutes if you walking to city. I think this mattress needs to be replace because I had mild back pain in the morning because it was like sleeping in a hammock. Nothing. No free WiFi. Not enough power, or I was just too tired to see it, it appeared as though all the outlets were being used by the other people, so I wasn't able to charge my phone. No ventilation in the dormitories. Slightly noisy because my room is opposite the main street; the sound of train & tram sometimes too loud, but subsequently I am use to the sound. Felt staff could have been friendlier. A bit more than I would have liked to pay, noisy room-mates. Nothing. It'll be great to have towels provided...or did I miss something. cramped kitchen no lounge. That I couldn't stay longer... (I had to return to work). old mattress and saggy bed. Room got stuffy especially on last night of 4 nights; two windows and a fan but had to leave the door open to hallway for a while. Toilet paper not replenished over 24 hours; had to get it from the disabled toilet next door. A 4-bedroom was a little strange at first. Since you dont know the other people but it worked out good. The Internet cost 4 Dollars per hour which was a little expensive for my budget. Colour scheme of my room. I arrived after spending time with a dying friend. When I entered my room at YHA it initially felt like a prison cell. The toilet had spoilt and I complained on it but they did not carry out any actions. The only thing that is missing is a relaxing area with sofas, tv, where you can relax and meet new friends. Paying for wifi connection. uncomfortable mattress lack of a common room(except kitchen) where somebody can relax after 11 pm. Rooftop is fine only when the weather is good. Too small cooking areas. -small sized kitchen. Nothing really. The location is not convenient to neighborhoods outside of cbd and the staff was not helpful or knowledgeable about using the public transportation. Note that if you are are only interested in going to nightclubs full of foreign students and eating at cheap restaurants catering to people in the hostels then the location is not a negative for you. not enough outlets for everyone in the room to charge something at once. ladder to upper bunk was awkward to use, especially getting down. You have to pay wifi, the rooms are a little bit too small and some of the rooms are very noisy seeing that they are in the balcony or Flinders street... You have two kitchens but very small and some of the devices don't work so well... the bed was so small , and I saw once that the room service cleaned up the quilt directly on the floor（they never change the quilt and pillow, only the sheet). Small rooms. Very uncomfortable bed. No any hook to hang a jacket. Extremely noisy. Uncomfortable acsess to room lockers - you should be dowm on the floor to reach them and watch you fingers!. Matress and pillow. Bugs bite.
