This 100+ year old hotel is full of all the grace, class and charm of old Vietnam. It is conveniently located opposite the Saigon Opera House and very near other long respected Saigon hotels. The Continental offers a wonderful breakfast buffet with option to dine inside or outside in the courtyard. The Hotel Continental Saigon is located within easy walking distance of Notre Dame Cathedral, the Old Saigon Post Office across the street, the US Consulate (site of former US Embassy) and the forme.
all reviews » This was our treat for the last two nights of our holiday. We booked the Oriental Suite overlooking the Opera House. This suite was absolutely massive - we reckon 50 square metres is an underestimate. Everything about the room was great. Clean, grand and furnished in style. This was one hotel where the huge bed did not dominate the room. The bathroom appeared to have been recently refurbished. The courtyard is an atmospheric place for breakfast. For less than the cost of a fairly ordina. The hotel had an elegant, old world feel with beautiful woodwork from a century ago.. The perfect central location! Staff was efficient and very helpful. Age and it's traditional furniture 4. Free upgrade to corner suite!. The location, the ambience, the sense of history and the lovely big rooms with their high ceilings. They allowed us a late check-out and there is a shower for use too. Breakfast was good. It is one of the very few hotels in Ho Chi Minh city which was not fully and destructively reconstructed and retains the old charm. This does not mean it is not in a good condition. We liked the history, the colonial ambience and charm. The staff were very nice. The breakfast buffet was excellent. We would definitely stay here again. I liked the beauty of the hotel. The staff was responsive and the room was pretty clean. It's a nice enough hotel in a good location. Bathroom was modern. Historical building City centre spacious room. No casual dining other than fast food is nearby. Several years ago there was a wonderful little eatery directly across the street that had great sandwiches and superb breads and pastries too. Sadly this place along with many other local and fun places to visit are gone with the city trying to really upscale downtown Saigon. Breakfast was fine and had all the things you might expect but perhaps lacked the sparkle that would have been in keeping with the location. No mango and papaya for fresh fruit for example. 1. Front desk services not great, can't even recommend dinner place 2. Spa under maintainence - nothing today between checkout and night flight, not even shower or brush teeth (just unlucky timing I guess). I wanted to buy a souvenir, but they don't have any. It would be nice to have some more of the history of the place around. It is a pity that the charming restaurant with the tables in the inner court was repeatedly occupied by some events like weddings, etc and was unavailable for hotel guests. Bathrooms need a revamp. Hot water took ages to come through. The price is a bit too much for the hotel. Facilities in bath room are old, not so clean but well maintained. Nothing dislike except the bath room. Evening restaurant lacks atmosphere due to very few customers. Leaving early and not being able to have another breakfast. The room of opera house view is a bit noisy till late in the night. The facilitatein order to minimize noise is required such as double glass window. The noisy location. How the bill was incorrectly presented (total was wrong). Extra charges are incurred when requesting for extending just for 30min . Bathroom and equipment were old, a little bit 60-70th style. The bathroom door squeaked. the service in the recepition could be better the front door is not so big enough that I couldn't find the front door for check in. staff not very pleasant. Front desk had very limited English which made communication difficult. No windows to a street at all. its very noisy, you will suffer a lot from traffic noise and the hustle & bustle - this is the no.1 point you need to consider before you reserve here. Staff attitude is just OK, sometimes a little cold and lost, not very friendly but they also weren't rude to me either. Didnt like the rat running across the interior courtyard whilst we were having an early evening drink and the fact that the rat dirts were still in evidence when we were having breakfast in the same loction the next morning. Perhaps it's because they are trying to remain a "historical feel," but everything in the room just seemed dated and not very comfortable. Other than the television, it seemed nothing else had been replaced since the hotel opened over 100 years ago. Room was a bit musty. Needed to open the window to get some fresh air in. Lot of loud music outside at 8:30am on saturday morning. It would be fine if i'd not gone to bed at 3:00am. WiFi Internet sometimes lost connection. Small toilet Poor shower facilities Noise outside No gym No pool. The hotel needs a renovation and they really need to hire an interior designer. I booked a room with the balcony and opera view, but when i came, they told me that my room is occupied and just take another for the same money or go away.
