The hotel was great. The staff went way above what was required. We arrived 12 hours late! With only a reservation on this web site, no money down, they met us at 5:30am at the door and ushered us up to an immaculatly clean little Standard room and told us to crash at no charge. And then acting like it was their fault that the plane was 12 hours late, they upgraded us for the next two nights to a Suite at no charge, for our inconvenience! all reviews » When I arived at the hotel they upgraded my room the Suite into the Grandsuite for free ! That was a huge surprise =] The staf was really polite kind, and professional. Especially the the receptionists, I had the miss fortune to get robbed on the streets, and the receptionists helped me going to the police station and writing the report. And they gave me enough money for a taxi when I needed to go to Wester Union to collect money that was transferd for me. This is my secont time staying at Hai . I was very impressed with the receptionist "Jenny" who helped me with our flight arrangements, delays, translation, organising and changing our transfers. Much of this was done for me while I was waiting in another city. What was a potential nightmare she sorteded quickly and courteously. Nothing was too much trouble. She was very professional! The hotel is well priced for what you get and where it was located.. Walking distance to all the major sights. Also differing from another review about . Room on third floor was excellent. Clean, comfortable, and spacious (suite). Very clean, good shower and bathroom. As usually in Asia, in-room A/C, and it worked well. I had to turn the temp up and fan down a few times! The female staff -- especially Jessica, Jenny XO, and Patricia were very helpful and professional. The breakfast staff was very good. Breakfast choices changed every day and the variety was good. Local and more traditional foods offered. All in all, I enjoyed my four night. The staffs were amazing...all smiley and always there to help...me as a first timer felt assured and not afraid to explore the city....room was clean and never missed to stock on the mineral water as u know their water is not safe to drink...very near to the mosque and halal food in dong du is just a few steps away...massage palour w great services as well...nice to end the tiresome shopping with a good foot massage...cheap yet great...in all...highly recommendable....taxi...no problem.... Had to upgrade for the 2nd time to a grand suite room (additional $10 per night) as the suite room was facing the main road. The staff at the Hai Long 5 are extremely attentive and eager to please. You will be greeted with smiles and a genuine welcome Location is excellent and the majority of the major sites within the City are within walking distance. I had planned to stay again and arrived a day earlier. What more is there to say other than "Thank you Jenny and all the staff". Halong 5 Hotel: very friendly and professional staff at the reception, unexpected well done breakfast facilities, large beds and rooms with ac. Price worth, absolutely. At our departure the staff checked the room and advised me to had forgotten my suite jacked in the room. Perfect service which we are bot used to have in other hotel structures. The staff were great especially the girls on the reception area. The girl were very helpful and nothing was to much trouble for them. The hotel was close to many attractions. The room was comfortable and there was plenty of room. The laundry system was also very good and the girl that cleaned our room was outstanding. The staff were just great, and gave us good restaurant recommendations, arranged cabs for us, etc. We took the upgrade to they offered, to a semi-suite (a large bedroom with a separate sitting area, not a sitting room), at a very reasonable increase in rate. It was really a nice tip from the staff, not a hard sell. The location was perfect, the room was very big and the bed was comfortable. We had a room facing a big street so quite noisy the whole time but you get used to it. The hotel staff was very kind and helpful. We booked with them the Delta Mekong trip and also a massage for a great price on a hotel 2 inures away. Patricia the manager offered free upgrade to a suite room for our honeymoon and was kind enough to waive charges when we check in one day late due to issues with our visa. Greatly appreciated. Very good location for a hcmc visitor, close to the river and walking distance from the key city attractions. The English -speaking staff were very helpful. I asked where I could buy a sim card. The porter offered to get me one and within minutes he returned with a card and fitted it into my phone. Value for money with a lavish touch. Superior room was simple but ample and the ensuite was one of the better designed. On the 8th flr we did need ear plugs while the lift was still in use as although it only went to 7th flr we were disturbed by the mechanical side of it. Breakfast was adequate. Hai Long 5 is a nice hotel with very high level of services, staff for european travellers. The position is good too near to center city with many restaurant and shops not only in vietnamese style. The girls staffs are friendly and accommodating except for the 1 guy who welcomed us when we checked in at late night. He was sarcastic! Just for information and not a personal dislike : It can get noisy but this is District 1 HCM City. The breakfast for us was below the standard of other hotels that we stayed in Asia. It would have been nice to have some bacon etc with our cold eggs. Please have thicker bread for toast. The breakfast doesn't have many Western options. The quality of the wi fi in the rooms was very poor and on occasions non-existent. Just the lift location-noise. We took the tour to Mekong with 1 night in Can Tho through the hotel. The visits were wonderful, simply amazing but the only pain was the hotel in Can Tho that was a very low level hotel with dirty sheet and towels. We changed it with a clean one but still a low quality hotel. I suggest to spend 5/10 $ more for a 3/4 star hotel that are present in Can Tho. As with my previous stay this is more FYI. Sometimes the wifi can drop. However, this can happen anywhere in Vietnam at any time. Just do not expect super fast. If you can live without. Then this is the place to stay. The price equivalent they said in the email is different from the price that they charged in my credit card! They said they had a price increase before we arrive. They should have not done that because we booked early and reserved the price that they sent to email! That's the only disappointing part, but over all, good services!. no negative point during my stay in the hotel. WiFi strength on the 8th floor was low. Did not bother me much as I was only using Internet occasionally. Look likes vietnamese don't have a culture of smiling except very few.With smile everything will improve greatly. There was nothing to complain about. Very positive experience. Price was right. I thought the airport pick up was over-priced. When you are new to a country, it is nice to have someone pick you up and take you directly to your hotel so that you don't have to worry about being scammed by someone. However, with the $15 charge each way, I already felt like I was scammed because the taxi cost is half the price. If you get their standard room, it's really small. We upgraded to their suite which was much better. I can not said about this !!!. Beware of the motobike driver & another suspicious guys around the hotel, some are bad guys , who just want to scam you, offer prostitute or something like that just pretend you don't see them. What was there not to like. It's not the Ritz Carlton, but a great deal for the money. Checking out!. None. My room faced the street, so it was a bit noisy. Location is some what removed from main activity area of town, but is close to the river if that is what you want. The rooms are a little out dated but It was cheap so still a good deal. Breakfast buffet was ok, not a lot of western options. For the cheaper rooms, room size is understandably smaller. Standard rooms have no window but this seems to be pretty common in Vietnam. all good. Breakfast selection is average, at best. Paid taxi to airport at the hotel and driver still asked for money on the meter, and then another US$5 for airport ticket. Very dodgy. It was Saigon Airport taxi service. ask the rooms on the garden,because on the street there is noise.
