    All our stay was perfect. The bedroom was just like the one in the pictures. Very clean and comfy. Great double bed. Perfect with tea/coffee/chocolate facilities in the room. Double glass window. Dark and thick curtain to get the room dark at night. We had view over York Place (and the road works) but it was not a problem as they did not work at n... what people say » ight, so it was pleasant to sleep. The road workers arrived around 7.30 in the morning but we were already preparing us for breakfast (monday to frida - The Elder York Guest House is a lovely place to stay in Edinburgh! The location is excellent, walking distance to all attractions. There are road works going on, but these won't interrupt your stay and should be over soon. We were greeted on arrival in a friendly way and shown our very clean and spacious room, with bathroom ensuite. Our host offered an excellent recommendation for a pub for dinner.     thought it was well worth the money and would definately use again - clean, nice friendly lady (only saw this one member of staff) but she was v helpful. room very clean and bed was comfortably but its a bit dated.     The people at Martins Guesthouse were very friendly and the breakfast was perfect. I had the small room with a tiny ensuite bathroom on the top floor, but I knew that beforehand and I do not need much space - so it was perfectly ok for me.     Irene and Bill were very friendly and welcoming and very helpful guides to a first time visitor to Edinburgh. The house was a beautiful older style house that was very well maintained. It was cosy and warm. There was an excellent choice for breakfast and although I didn't choose a cooked breakfast I could see other that guests did and it looked de... what people say » licious. The tea/coffee making equipment was for a single guest but Irene happily provided extra for my son - a student in Edinburgh who left me back - The hotel is easy to drive to and parking was no problem. The owners are lovely people and make you feel very welcome. Really enjoyed the breakfast both food and the chat.

    This place has a very relaxed laid back approach and if you need any help everyone is friendly and informative enough. The location itself is very central and the bus from the airport shuttle bus drops you right behind their street. At a perfect spot in “Edinburgh new town”, in the middle of shopping and restaurant areas. The building originally from early 19th century is well preserved and nicely taken to the 21st. The top floor stairs is old and torn but so full of charms. Nice rooms in harmony with building, furniture and facilities. Run by friendly owners and an adorable old cat watching the lounge. Good WI-FI. Breakfast is served at neighbouring Rick’s Hotel, really good.

    The Alpha Guest House was a wonderful place to stay. The bedroom was always clean (we were grateful for the fresh towels every day!), modern yet classy and well furnished. There was a good variety of food for breakfast and the cooked breakfast wasn't too greasy - which was good! Not failing to mention the prompt service of the staff. After staying one day you feel like you are at home more than a hotel. Location is 15-20 mins to the center and 5 mins by bus which is really good. I will - Room was very nicely and comfortably furnished, inpeccably clean that it made me feel at home immediately. There were nearby bus stops but I had preferred to walk (about 15 minutes to Waverley Station). A large supermarket (Tesco) is 5 minutes away and so are a number of restaurants. I went on a day tour that set off early in the morning and John (the owner) gladly served breakfast earlier than usual for me, so that was great hospitality.     The owners are totally committed to providing a quality experience to their guests. It seems a range of languages are spoken and there were many Continental European guests though all are welcome. The location is excellent with very regular buses taking you to the city centre and sights. The great Scottish breakfast with a wide choice sets you ... what people say » up for the day! - Nice room, very comfortable single bed (maybe a bit small, my mum fell when she was rolling over) and very quiet. Good breakfast with self serving coffe/tea, juice, cereal and yogurt. I had scrable eggs on toast, but you can get a full Scottish breakfast. Staff very friendly. I'd like to stay longer to interact with them. Definitely I'll came again.
