Amazing, central location; extremely helpful and friendly staff;delicious breakfast; comfortable room with a fluffy comforter, cabletelevision, and free wi-fi; great room rate overall; very cleanbathrooms. Having a shared bathroom was different than most hotels I'vestayed at, but it wasn't a problem at all and there was still a lot ofprivacy. I would definitely recommend this hotel to a frie.
all reviews » Room and bath were very clean, we had a cooked to order hot breakfasteach morning, the manager, Ryan, was exceptionally helpful, personableand accommodating. A very good value, safe, and comfortable. The singleroom was small, but the bath was across the hall and very modern andclean. The double room was spacious by any European standards. Coffee andtea available in the room was nice.We loved everything about our stay at the York House Hotel, It is in a great central position, Our room was lovely and very clean, the breakfast was fantastic...but best of all has to be Louis...He is truly awesome, really helpful and made our stay even more memorable. Next time we come to Edinburgh we will definately be staying again!!. Friendliness of staff. Very helpful. The room we stayed in was spacious and clean. We were on the first floor at the back of the hotel which, considering the location in the city near to the bus station was surprisingly quiet and peaceful. The hotel was a great find. The staff were pleasant and the manager went out of her way to be helpful with information for guests regarding travel arrangements for places they wanted to visit and we got a great recommendation for a place to eat. The room was large and very well looked after. Such a friendly Manageress. The room was very comfortable and clean and the breakfast fab. The hotel is so central it can hardly be bettered. Highly recommended, we will definitely return to York House when visiting Edinburgh in the future. Ryan was so welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend this hotel to family, friends and work colleagues. And as for having no lift - this definitely kept us fit. :-). Because I stayed during a holiday and was in a room overlooking a majorstreet I could hear drunk revelers walking past one night. However, thestaff was very helpful and provided a fan to help with the noise. Keepin mind I am the lightest sleeper ever.So happy to say we didn't find anything negative. Noise of traffic from street at front but that was not the fault of the hotel.beware, there are some rooms which are very high up in this hotel and they cant have a lift because its a listed building but sarah very kindly moved us and our 75 yr old mother to other rooms, there are no signs, not even a small plaque to say its a hotel, just york house gold plaque so take extra note of the door number. As our room was at front it was a bit noisy on Saturday night, but that cannot be helped.No lift facility, and there are 3 floors. Not easy to find the place. Guests are not allowed into a single room during day. no. we stayed in the front of the hotel there was some trafic noise. A couple in our group complained of noise from the street some evenings, but it was of less importance as we stayed out late most nights.A minor complaint was that the hotel did not have the name displayed outside ,so we had a problem finding it. could have a shelf in the bathroom , no where to put tolietries. Lock on bathroom did not work, windows need black out blinds, TV made an annoying buzz. needs more shelves in the bathrooms and due to it being right slap bang in the city centre, the road can be a little noisy - other than that nothing of note.Room not ensuite. Needs it's name displayed at the front for ease of finding. The Stairs. Small sign on front door of the hotel would help find it. Not even sure which bell to press, or even if it was the right door. A larger bathroom would have been nice.When we arrived, there was no indication that the hotel existed at all. For a moment we feared there had been a scam! However, we had the number of York Place on our booking confirmation and all turnd out to be fine. Out room was on the top floor - 67 stairs! However, we are fit,so this did not really matter. The room was at the back and quiet, so was worth the climb!. Thuoght it was a little pricey though it may have been cos og the sotland france rugby game. The hotel was that new that they don't even had their names displayed on the building (and I was the only guest for that single night). :) It was impossible to find the hotel (27 York Place) without their help via phone (only "York Place" was given as address on website).
