Friendly staff. Nice welcome. Just what we were looking for. The location was excellent. Along with the friendliness of the staff and having four beds in one room contributed great to us having a great weekend in Edinburgh. It was a nice little place and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast it was very good...Bathroom was very clean, with hot water..The hotel is close to the City Centre therefore it is very good value for money, however it is more a boarding house thatn a hotel and should be advertised as such. THe staff were pleasant and helpful. The room itself was a good size. I reserved a single room (45 pounds!!) for me and a twin room for my daughter and her friends. When I saw the single room, I was amazed because the area was just 4 m2. The twin room was also dirty and broken at the lamp and shower. It was dirty. The reception was too lazy. Actually, when we checked out, nobody was there. You should avoid this hotel. the up and down stairs to the room as i am 62 years old. otherwise everything was good. The room could have been a little warmer, but i'm just an aussie so thin blood. I was slightly put out that money had already been taken from my account to cover the first night when I arrived as it was my understanding that my card details would only be used in the event of cancellation. The cleanliness of our room left a bit to be desired. The "hotel" is in need of some serious modernisation. The room was extremely outdated and basic. The old television only had an indoor aerial with poor reception and few channels. There was no soap left in the tiny bathroom. The hotel was a good 20 min walk from the main street and cost us £10 in a taxi. It was certainly not value for money. My daughter claimed about the broken lamp and shower to the reception. However, the reception was just angry and did nothing. They should have changed the room bacause they did not have no other guest. The people who run the hotel did not regard guests as guests.
