The staff were extremely helpful and we enjoyed being in the surroundings of the old part of the hotel. It had character as well as having modern facilties. The location was not only ideally central it was also very picturesque being surrounded by the georgian buildings around the square. We look forward to our next stay. Everything, service, quality, kindness of people both hotel staff and local. We stayed in the McDonald Bath spa hotel so we knew we were going to enjoy our stay. The staff can't do enough for you, opens doors always ask if your ok and if there's anything they can do for us. Absolutely amazin.

I thought that the Tea and Coffee 're stocking' was not up to the expected standard. Small point really but when considering the cost of the room, I would have expected stocks to have been replinished each day.The room we had must have been above or very near to a function room and although I might stay again I would ask about this as the music was very loud in the room and continued until 2am also the street noise was quite bad all night. I also had problems at the restaurant in the evening and I think perhaps this was also due to the function. I thought the price of food in particular the cost of breakfast was too expensive. I also felt that internet access should have been free of charge.Getting to the car park proved difficult although in fairness there are road works all around the hotel at present making it even more difficult to find. Just one small thing, the pillows were very firm and a little uncomfortable. Checking in was delayed by over two hours with no reason other thanhousekeeping issue, no alternative available or compensation other thana tea or coffee whihc was served cold, spolit an otherwise pleasantvisit to scotland. THe gathering of smokers on the steps of the hotel. Not only did it meanrunning the gauntlet of poisonous smoke with a pregnant wife, thesmokers appeared oblivious to other guests who were trying to get in andout of the hotel - on check-in and check-out we had very heavy bags.Some staff werent as friendly and welcoming, especially for a 4 star hotel. Bar drinks were very expensive. I would suggest putting a baby changing unit in the changing area at the leisure centre. We travelled with a 7 month old and it was difficult to change her on the small benches provided. Price of breakfast - £17.50 a head. We went round the corner to Debenhams and had full English for less than £5. No jacuzzi ! and car parking a little limited and expensive. Breakfast was expensive and no option of continental payment option for vegetarians ie croissants and coffee only.
