All the staff, especially reception were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The hotel was ideally suited for my needs. It was centrally located in the centre of Edinburgh. Lovely atmosphere in the bar by day and night. Hotel is very central with easy access to shops restaurants on foot. Perfect for weekend breaks. A little more space would have been good for bags etc. Also our room was facing a side street and there were a lot of trucks making noisy early morning deliveries - this disturbed us earlier than we would have liked in the morning. room was rather small, but fair given the price, location and high standard of facilities. The sink was too small and I couldn't properly wash and shave in it. There were a few dirty marks on the runner and bolster which slightly spoilt the impression of an otherwise very clean and comfortable room.The service charge was v high for room service. There was a lot of noise due to the popular hotel bar both out and inside. The room was quite dark and had a strange smell to it.the room price did not include breakfast. A little noisy from the street in the morning, not the hotels problem. there was no jack daniels in the mini bar!. My room didn't have a minibar even though there was a price list. Slow staff on checkout. 1 person checking out 8 couples, took about 40 mins or so. Parking availability. The restaurant is limited. Good bar. There is a night club on site but no noise from there. I am a fairly medium build and height male and the shower was a bit to tight for me to manoevur. Lighting in the bedroom quite poor - could have been better. there is no aircosystem. satelite tv is not working - since november. Bar too crowded and noisy. And I never did find the so-called "honestybar" in my room. Too much noise outside hotel on Saturday evening. The rooms were a bit small to walk around but ambience was good.My room was very small and facing an alley and it was very noisy. Garbage collection started every day about 5 am outside our window whichbacked onto a side road. However in Edinburgh I do not see how you canavoid this problem during Fringe weeks. No air conditioning in the roomswhich made the relatively small rooms stuffy. No extraction in thebathrooms.It was a bit noisey. A bit too dark in room and corridors. W.C. loose at wall mount. Couldn't find the coffee/tea facilities until too late!! Curtains were dusty at top.night club venue not open to residents on sat. night. Closed for private function. Bit small. The staff is too relaxing. The terrible dark decor and pootr lighting. Environmental or not. Reallymade me depressed, had to get out room as soon as I could. If you havethat kighting then the decor has to be bright.I wished I had noticed that the hotel didn't have room service as I was working late and needed to get a meal at 10.30pm - the hotel could not cater for this. Also, was awoken early in the morning as my room was clearly above the bar/restaurant area which was being prepared for breakfast. Suggest if you know you're working late get a room that isn't over the bar. The sheets were dirty when we arrived however it was not the sheets we were sleeping in.Wake up call was 20 min late! I almost missed my train because of that. Reception doesn't seem to be around to answer the phone at night. The room was so incredibly tiny. Literally had to turn sideways to get to bathroom and could almost touch the far wall while in bed. I am not a tall person, I found it nicely decorated but far far far too small. Two feet could have been taken from the bathroom and added to the bedroom. It differed so wildly from the photos on the website have to say I felt a little cheated!. A lot of noise from the street (club at night; bin men in morning) - poor sound insulation despite double glazing. Room I stayed in (105) was very small.
