The location of Vossius Vondelpark is excellent - close to bus and tram stops but so easy to walk from that I never used public transport. The major museums and Heineken brewery are within 5 minutes walk. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the welcome from staff was warm and friendly at any hour of the day/night. An elevator is a real bonus in a typical dutch building with steep staircases!.
all reviews » As we only spend one night in Amsterdam (attending a concert), there is not much to say, possitive or negative. We wanted to stay in the centre of town. The hotel is a few yards from Leidseplein. So location is great. We booked a small double, which was nice, clean and cosy. For breakfast we went to a bakery, so no comment on that. Will keep the hotel in mind for next stop in Amsterdam !. Lovely breakfast included in the price and great and helpful staff. The room was a little tight for 3 people but perhaps being from the US we are not as use to the smaller accommodations. But, the use of space was kind of amazing anyway. It didn't effect my enjoyment of the hotel and the location was great. Hotel is located perfectly, clean, comfortable, new, and modern. The staff is great and price is perfect. It is the best choice for people from all ages since it is in the center of entertainment and also sightseeing. I would definitely stay at Vossius whenever I go back to Amsterdam. Comfy Hotel, small and friendly, good Breakfast and coffee/tea in room. Nice Bathroom but small, good Shower. About 20 mins walk from Dam Square but we found this ideal as we wouldn't have seen this part of Amsterdam otherwise. Staff very friendly and hardworking. Hotel was clean and modern, and they let us leave our suitcases in the hold room on check out, for no extra charge, as we had a 8 hour wait from check out till our flight. It was so close to a tram stop and a two minute walking distance from resteraunts and shops. I like the fact that the staff was great people, the location was perfect, 10-15min walk to the main square. The rooms were exactly how you see them on the picture, and the whole hotel was very hygenic. I am 100% going to stay there again, and asap!. The location is excelant we just walked around. We found parking spot just in front of the hotel. The parking ticket was expensive, but this is normal for the centrum of Amsterdam. The guy in the reception was very helpful and polite. The security was very reassuring - you have to use your room key to access building. Very clean a tidy looking. The complaint was noted down but we did not recieve an appology. This was dissapointing. The bathroom was pretty small. And the bed weren't fully a single bed. But for a short trip you would love it. The window are Very old. Also had mold and this is bad for the health. A little cramped buts its what you pay for, due to this the small rooms are probably more appropriate for couples rather than friends. the hotel does not have wifi in the room, you have to buy it or to use the common computer in reception area. It does not have heater either so it might get cold at night. Not very much space in the room. There was nothing I didn't like. Extremely small bathroom. Just a very small point: have more coffee sachets available in the room. There was only enough for one each per day. We chose not to eat breakfast at the hotel and preferred a hot breakfast at any one of cafes in the area. wifi was not free, where its free at most places in amsterdam. Being a budget hotel, the room we stayed in was very small, so don't bring a lot of luggage. The room was startlingly small, especially for the money that we spent to stay there. There was a charge for wi-fi and the mediocre breakfast was taken in a small area with a very loud juice machine. Single beds are too small and rather designed for kids, apart from that it is a great place to stay. Could hear people late at night when coming in to the hotel as we were on the first floor. Breakfast was extra (I think it should be included in the price I paid). Couldn't find the button to on the radiator. Walls aren't very soundproof. Hotel I a bit far from the dam square, although it is very close to lidsplain and to vondelpark. There are no smoking areas except the yard. Our room was extremely small. Didn't felt like it was a twin room. Twin room was too small for two people with hardly any space to move around. The room was very small and wi-fi connection was paid. Very small rooms but typical for many hotels in Amsterdam. We had a three person room that was fine and a four person room that was very tight. When in Amsterdam, especially with children, trying to get down for breakfast by 09:30 can be difficult, 4 sharing, with 1 shower between us. whilst having breakfast my daughter had got up to get a choc spread for her toast, admitidly just after 10:30 politly asked the member of kitchen staff for it as she was takinh it away and was rudely spoken to, and said "Breakfast is over" was not polite...daughter appologised, put a damper on the morning. too high room rate, almost 200 Euro per night. I would have enjoyed a lobby, bar etc , but realize this would drive up the price. The hotel provides the bare essentials, but since most will only use this facility just for sleeping it will not be a problem. Bathroom Sink a little on the small side. Ipod dock had no adapter or batteries Shower area design needs improvement; maybe a glass door since half a glass cover tends to not keep the shower water from spreading to the floor. Towels could use a little bit of fabric softener. We had a tripple room which was extremely cramped. When we got to the room, two of the single beds had just been pushed together. As we were three single male friends on a lads weekend away, this was very inconvenient. We had to rearrange the furniture in order to actually have a little space Inbetween each bed. The room was still very cramped and allowed very little movement in and out of the room. The bathroom was very small. Quadruple room - really tiny bathroom. Shower, sink and WC on less than 2m2. Small breakfast room. I pod dock didn't work, bed and curtains obstructed radiator. Small room size. Small room. small rooms. The small double room was too small. Luckily they managed to change our room after two nights. Very helpful. Small things needed like hooks on the wall for your coat, bigger shelf for washthings, a drawer for clothes. In first room we had a good size wardrobe but only 3 hangers. The receptionist Fabrizzi was particularly helpful. Rooms are not the biggest. Very small room! Not enough space for two bags. Good value for money tho, would go back!. rooms were small. The cleanliness of the rooms can be improved. Dusting of the vents and quite a few dead bugs on the wall. Not very nice. While I was able to open the window in the evening, it flapped in the wind so I had to close it. Perhaps a catch to hold it in a slightly open position would be good-especially in the summer months.
