The staff were always very friendly and helpful. They also let me bring my dog, and were very nice to him as well :) The location was great, it was very near many of the main museums, within walking distance, and the tram stops were about 5 min walk away. Parking was more difficult, but we were able to find a spot on the street nearby, and parking is free on Sundays so we didn't end up paying much. Our room had a balcony so that was nice. all reviews » Quiet location and spacious room: it is definitely worth staying slightly outside the city centre for these comforts. The hotel is also within easy walking distance of the three major art galleries and the Vondelpark, which is great for picnics, reading and people-watching if you want a break from the hustle and bustle (or from all those paintings!). Location is fantastic for both Vondel Park and the nightlife of Leidesplein. Hotel is very clean, the staff helpful and courteous. Plenty of brochures for activities advice and discounts provided by reception staff. Breakfast room is light and airy with a good selection items in continental style breakfast. And the virtue of being close to the museum area and a stone's throw (or a short tram journey) from the heart of the city. The small but perfectly formed Hestia provided a great base for an Amsterdam trip encompassing the museums and the city centre. Breakfast was all you could want to set you up for a days sightseeing. Steep stairs, little or no common area, quite far from the center (have to ride the 2.8 euro tram to get to the train station), dirty bathtub. We paid 44/ person (we were 4) for this place and the bathtub had a thick, slimy stain of what appeared to be blood... blood from who knows where. It was really disgusting! But aside from that, i think the place was alright. a bit more comfort n the room will not damage- renovating the bath for example, or installing air-conditioning. the stairs. Room was very warm but weather was very warm too. Shower fan made to much noise when bathroom light was turned on. No kleenex in room. it was the smallest of all small rooms we stayed in during this 20 day trip. The single room was extremely small, I don't recommend it to claustrophobic persons. The price is quite expensive for a small room espacially with a very very showroom so that there isn't enough espace to turn, just go straight and return back to straigh. The single room was the size of a clozet. The bathroom was even smaller. In the early morning I was woken up by someone taking a shower as if close to my bed so the room appeared absolutely non sound proof. Can be very noisy during nights [thin walls and banging doors all the times]. We had small room but we did not know that the toilet is going to be very small as well [the smallest toilet I have ever seen]. Overpriced. We paid 330 Euros for 3 nights which is equivalent of monthly wages in some European Union countries. Very small single room and bathroom with very dated furnishings and European style toilet. The small double room we had could only be described as a single room with a double bed in it As the bed was up to a wall I had to shuffle across the bed to reach the far side.
