I've been to Venice many times but never before managed to secure a reservation at the Pensione Accademia. As iconic in its class as the Cipriani or Danieli at the top end, it is famous for the charm of the staff, helpful and smiling service, perfection of the location, beautiful gardens with tables and chairs and even sunloungers, the generosity of the breakfasts and cicchieti offered with drinks, comfortable and well-provisioned rooms (a kettle! all reviews » The best thing here is the receptionists. They were extremely helpful and courteous. Thank you very much Adriano and Massimo. There was no noise at all and I was able to sleep well. I don't know how it sounds in the holiday season, though. The hotel is not far away from St. Mark. You can walk or take take ?bus" to it. By "the bus" stop Academia is a small restaurant owned by a family from Tunisia. Amany was a great hostess there. Excellent location. Water taxi has direct access to hotel landing for customers. Breakfast plenty and of excellent standard. Hotel staff efficient, professional and friendly. Room and outside sitting area was classy, comfortable and clean. Attention to small details, like turning down sheets prior to sleep, was appreciated. Near the Accademia, which is a 15-20 minute walk from the Rialto bridge or Saint Mark's square. We were snowed in one evening and unable to get an evening meal/snack as they don,t serve food after 5.30!. there was a bit dust and the place was very much calm. Hotel tax!. No real criticism. It's Venice so hard to be perfect. The staff are a bit pompous. The room we were assigned was on the top floor and was extremely small. The bathroom was also very small and cramped. The bidet was facing the toilet with about 6" between and the shower stall was adjacent. Barely room to put down a bath mat and no counter space. Very uncomfortable for two people. The room was quite small and the wi-fi in the room not excellent. We stayed in room 14 which was supposed to be superior it isnt and overlooking a canal which it was but we couldnt see it, its dim due to only one window, the bathroom was tiny, blankets looked grubby, the 300 euros per night is not value for money.
