My partner and I just spent two nights at the Hotel Arcadia and are glad we decided to stay there. It’s a delightful small hotel, with 17 rooms, and was lovingly restored by owner, Luigi and his wife, Simone, about 18 months ago. The room we were assigned, #57, was small by North American standards but as we were out and about most of the time the size was OK. A chair and small table or work surface for my laptop would have been nice but there was really no room to add any more furniture, and t.
all reviews » This boutique hotel is brand new, and is a find for visitors to Venice seeking a high quality small hotel to stay during their visit. The staff was fantastic - Luigi, in particular, welcomed us warmly, provided helpful information about how to navigate the city, good recommendations for dinner, even loaned me his own umbrella one rainy morning! The facility itself is lovely. The historic aspects of the building have been been preserved into an otherwise modern, upscale design. Our room was. The room we had was lovely and very tastefully appointed throughout. The staff were wonderful, gracious and helpful. The location is great because it's in a nice area and it isn't over run with tourists. Yet in perfect walking distance to everything you want to see. There is also a water bus three minutes away along with a stellar coffee house a few doors to the left of the hotel. This is the first review I've ever written, I've taken the time to do so because I completely it is such a great bo. Fabulous staff that were attentive, friendly and polite. Made us feel welcomed and important. The room felt very luxurious and classy and the bath is very new. The dining hall had a grand chandelier and breakfast was splendid. A/c kept heatwave out even though we had no view as we opted for the first floor and got a room right next to the reception which was noisy at times but we weren't light sleepers. The staff helped with luggages up one flight of stairs...thank God! The walk to the hotel wa. We had a wonderful time and the hotel lived up to its reviews in every respect. From the comforting spacious rooms to the attentive, friendly staff, and the vast selection for breakfast not forgetting the spacious and conveniently 2 different Shower heads (one fixed/one removable) with a large bathroom and tub. Everything you read about the great breakfasts and friendly staff is true. Plus the hotel provides free wine and nibbles in the early evening, although the lounge area lacks atmosphere - probably needs some appropriate music playing. The room was superb, what you see in the photos is really what you get The owners were really helpful and friendly The location is great , right in the middle of the fruit market with many cafes and restaurants and shops around, also a few steps away from alilaguna (public transport to/from airport) as well as near the transportations to the St Marc Breakfast is really nice w. The complimentary breakfast is a gourmet feast. The fare varies little day to day, but comprises some of the best selections of local menu items available and has an on staff cook/barista who is well supplied and quite eager to please. The staff here was absolutely 'freaky fast' and seemed to anticipate our needs before we expressed them - they all speak English as well. -The Staff was superfriendly and very helpful -Breakfast was awesome - It was newly renovated with a superb design and unbelievably clean - best value for money - very close to the city center and the train station - they had recommendations for nice restaurants and made the reservations - couldn't be better, exceptionally seriously!. The view from the room was not nice, it was overlooking the next building (nothing really to look at ) but we did not stay much in the room There is no elevator, and you have to atleast go one floor up the stairs , our room was in the second floor so we had to go 2 floors upstairs It is great for a couple but not really for children , as they did not have a baby cot also we had to go up and down the stairs carrying the push chair and our son. The room (like most European hotels) is a bit small, the bed sits low and the bathroom, though functional is very small. My wife also banged her toe on the shower enclosure at night when toileting - watch out it's close to the toilet. You don't bang into things when you can see, but it is definitely a 1 person bathroom. no flaws!!. Wouldn't change a thing. I could say "if reception was on ground floor", but they carried everything up for us and the floor 1 reception meant that it was quiet and private. So NOTHING. The room had a hydrogen sulfide (sewer) smell. It was bad when you walked in the room but the thing with Hydrogen sulfide is you get used to it and do not smell it after a short while so we lived with it. The staff explained that is part of being in Venice. I found that hard to believe as a trap in the line should take care of that sitiuation. Would prefer a wardrobe rather than an open clothes rail - but only a very minor dislike!. I can't think of any negatives. Unusual for me. Nothing. Only one pillow per person and only one spare in the wardrobe. A bit odd to be in such a wonderful place with a 3YO, although we were made extremely welcome. Nothing. Nothing. a treadmill would be nice. a small gym or? i went for a jog one morning and venice is a difficult place to do that!. There isn't anything to dislike about his hotel. Only slight complaint was that we ordered a double bed room and this was two singles put together (or two mattresses on a double base?). We found ourselves continually pushing the bed together. Our room was not totally soundproof, but in a city like Venice I wasn't expecting it to be, so no problem. No one ever mentioned that in the historic city of Venice there are no motor vehicles,ie taxis, busses, etc. so getting to the hotel was a major challenge. We had to learn about the water taxi system, routes(confusing at first) purchasing the right tickets, pushing our way onto a crowded vessel, getting off at the right stop/bridge then walking several blocks of crowded cobbled streets with our luggage. After arrival, the rest of the trip was great!. not 1 thing. Nothing. The shower temperature fluctuated a bit. Maybe some fresh bread for breakfast?. Not the cheapest, but probably fair value for money, for Venice. The door signage could be more obvious, we couldn't find our hotel when we arrived late at night. But the concierge came out to find us!. Venice addresses can be a challenge. Google map the hotel; the hotel is worth it. No tea or coffee facilities in room.

How to reach us by car:
You can park your car at the Tronchetto and take the water bus no. 82, or you can take number 82 or number 1 from Piazzale Roma. In both cases get off at the San Marcuola stop, cross the alley opposite you and once you are in Rio Terrà della Chiesa turn into Rio Terrà Cristo (in front of you on the left) and carry on until you arrive at Rio Terrà San Leonardo. Turn left and carry on until you reach number 1333 where you will find the Hotel Arcadia.
Alternatively, when you get to Piazzale Roma, you can take the motor-boat number 52 or 42 and get off at the Guglie stop. From the landing pier turn right and follow the foundations as far as the bridge. Turn left into Rio Terrà San Leonardo: carry on for a few meters and you will find the Hotel Arcadia.
