Located on the ground floor of the renovated old city building. This is an excellent hotel for a couple traveling with the small toddler. One of the few in a city such as Florence. This is mostly to the common kitchen (2 of them) freely accessible . And since it is only 8 rooms it is never crowded. So you can prepare a meal for a baby at any time and get your tea. Free WiFi has good coverage and is fast.
all reviews » Some reviews indicate this hotel is slightly out of the way. Its not. Its a pleasant 5 to 10 minute walk from the main attractions. I would describe this hotel as 'boutique' - only 5 or 6 rooms all on the ground floor. Staff were friendly and helpful and can assist with booking tickets for the main attractions. the owner turned a portion of building into small apt. hotel. it had 10 units and felt private. Place had been remodeled smartly and very clean. Staff were nice and attentive. This is type of place people will go back and eventually become difficult to get booking because of regular repeat customers. Friendly staff. We arrived late, but everything was well prepared for with the keys and clear explanations how to get into and where to park. Worth to mentioned, that it has own garage in ZLT zone. No problem to park. Big and clean rooms, no problem to fit with two small kids (1 and 4 y.o.). We liked everything about our stay and never have I seen a more gracious and kind host as Julio was.The room was lighted well, very comfortable and we have no complaints. We stayed with our family a total of five nights and we would stay again. I would highly recommend Relais Modern to all. I got in after the front desk have closed and didn't have much problem settling in, though the TV needed more attention....the room was spacious and clean, very relaxing...the makeover to modern room turned out quite nice. Accessing the car garage also wasn't much of a bother. Position perfect and a home away from home. Just a great way to run a hotel. I loved that we could use proper wine glasses and had a place to sit at the end of the day. Restaurants close, bus and on/off Bus close. All good. The decor was very modern and the room was spacious. Large bathroom shower was large with lots of water pressure. Plus a heated towel rack that doubled as a radiator which we liked. Very clean and comfortable hotel. Friendly stuff. Would have stayed there again if it was a bit closer the centre. Although the area where this hotel is situated is very safe. Friendly and helpful staff. The position was great as it was walking distance to the churches and the shops. The room was nice and had everything that we needed for our stay. There are 8 stairs at the entrance that are a bit of pain if you have to carry a stroller over them 4 times a day. none. The distance from the city centre and the breakfast didn't offer much options. It's quite far away from the centre, about 20 min walk. Could be tough after the whole day of struggling through the crouds of tourists in the city centre. Nothing negative to say. Difficult to find when driving. Parking in Florence difficult so allow for parking costs in your budget. nothing. I chose Relais modern because it seemed to have apartment like facilities but although it had a communal kitchen, there were no utensils available for cooking. It was more a cross between a B&B and a hotel. breakfast. Nothing.. Apart maybe the fact that there is no signboard of the name of the hotel outside. sound isolation of the rooms. altough it was not a problem for us , normal volume conversation and normal daily activity at the hotel room is tottaly earable from the rooms next. the problem is that when other guests dont understand this and start to "bang" the walls claiming....making it like an strange experience. even more strange when after 6 p.m. there is nobody at the reception and you have someone banguing the wall...... Can be a bit loud early morning when the rubbish collection goes by. Windows must be closed. Nothing. No staff on location late evenings and overnight. nothink :). too noisy. Hard to park to unload luggage. It did not feel homey and warm, but rather cold and uninviting. Breakfast had little selection and no fruit. Staff was not there after 6pm and didn't arrive until 7:30am which made it feel like a dorm room rather than a personable hotel. We would not recommend this hotel. It's a very expensive bed and breakfast, I paid 180 euro but got no breakfast.... Room poor, no table, no chair, just an Ikea lack ( 9 euro) on the bedside. Is this the design furniture claimed in the ads?????.
