Firstly, we never write any comments about the hotels on here as none have justified the action. Until now. Palace suites is truly a hidden gem in Split. From the moment we arrived (earlier than the required check in time) Zeljka made us feel so welcomed. After quickly checking us in and showing the room we had to ensure it was ok, she brought us downstairs and gave a great explanation about the city of split. She pointed out all major attractions and gave great suggestions for restaraunts and .
all reviews » My stay at Palace Suites was truly fabulous. I wanted to be in Diocletian Palace so I knew not to expect a big chain style hotel. This boutique property was delightful- the staff went out of their way to be helpful, my suite was beautiful-by far the largest Suite I have stayed in during my European travels. Breakfast was fantastic and i left not needing lunch at all. This was not the usual Continental breakfast that I expected- I had delicious omlette and had many additional items to select- fr. Me and my boyfriend stayed at palace suites for 2 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. We were given such a warm welcome and felt at home straight away. The location of the hotel was perfect and our room was lovely. The staff were amazing. We were even given a glass of wine while our room was being prepared as we arrived early. We were given lots of tips on where to go and what to do and they gave us maps to help us find our way around. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting sp. Loved loved the location. It is in the heart of the old city close to all the fun. Despite other reviewers saying the location is noisy, we did not find that to be the case at all. Once we closed the windows we were shocked that virtually no sound came up from the restaurant below. There is full air conditioning, so no need to sleep with windows open. Old stone is just wonderful in the rooms. Staff made us breakfast omlets, when we asked. The hotel was within the Palace walls. Just beyond the Palace walls, there was the Riva - the Adriatic, harbor and a beautiful view of the nearby hills and mountains. The hotel staff were so helpful and wanted to make sure I saw all of the sites and special views. Each morning at breakfast or at the end of a day of sightseeing, they would want to know what I had seen and explain what else there was to see. I'd stay there again!. Location was fantastic - just outside the gates of Diocletian Palace and a few turns from the Riva. 10 mins leisurely walk from the ferry terminal and Marjan Hill. What made this place especially good was the morning staff, esp our conceirge/ front desk girl (which I'm can never remember how to spell her name). Her knowledge of Croatia and exceptional and authentic customer service definitely made our stay there memorable. What a great find! I first stayed in Split 9 years ago when I had a very different hotel experience. Palace Suites is doing everything right. I love the old building with the modern facilities and to top the lot the staff are so incredibly welcoming and friendly. I will definitely stay there again when next in Split and recommend to friends and colleagues. Well done - full marks!. I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of my stay and would highly recommend Palace Suites and Split. The history combined with the modern amenities made my holiday interesting and exciting. Taking day trips to the surrounding islands, swimming in the Adriatic Sea or shopping within the castle walls made for some outstanding experiences. The staff was wonderful and extremely helpful! They did a great job of orienting us with Split and the best things to do in our short time there! The rooms were an incredible mix of modern luxury and medieval charm! I had been having trouble finding a place for weeks on my travels to get my nails done and one of the staff had a friend of her's come to meet us at the hotel and escort me to an available salon. Very lovely people and family like feel. The hospitality was fantastic. We were made to feel right at home, instantly. We were akways helped, directed to great sights and restaurants , car rentals, everything. Breakfast was fantastic with fresh fruit, omlettes breads cheeses etc, We miss being there and can't wait to return. The staff was wonderful and extremely helpful, assisting us with restaurant reservations, sightseeing tips and travel information for the rest of our vacation, I have never felt so welcome at a hotel. The room was wonderful, modern AC and a location that is unbeatable. The first night we stayed there we booked one of the rooms overlooking the square. The view was incredible, the room was great and the staff was incredibly helpful. They even agreed to hold our bags for a few nights while we went on a multiday trip out of split. I truly reccomend this place to stay whenever you're in Split. Excellent location just a few meters of the Palace. No lobby to rest in, no elevator (staff did help with bags) we couldn't get wi fi in rooms, just in breakfast room. The bathroom sink was so large there was not a lot of room to put cosmetics etc. (a simple slab of wood over the center of the sink would solve this problem) None of these are big problems!. Afternoon and Evening staff, esp front desk girl, was completely the opposite if the morning one. Very short and lacks any customer service skills. When we checked out, she didn't acknowledge us anymore, even to the point of denying us the use of a washroom before our long ferry home and I was pregnant too. Very strange. Nothing. Absolutely nothing!!. Beware, there are stairs to climb. Our room was 4 flights of stairs up from street level. Also, there is no parking anywhere near the hotel and getting luggage back and forth is an issue unless you are traveling very light. Only downside is no elevator. The palace is protected and had to stay preserved as it was, alterations like elevators are not allowed to be added. An odd smell from the shower sink. But not too bothersome. They took contact with a plumber to take a look on the issue as soon as we brought it to their attention. A few nights later we stayed there again but in another room not overlooking the square and the quality of the room dropped somewhat. Admittedly it was a less expensive room but you could definitely tell they spent much more time on the pricier rooms. Although it was nothing terrible and it certainly suited our needs for a clean hotel room. Nothing :). no complaints about this hotel. Wi fi did not work in the room, so we couldn't use the comfortable desk and couch there, but had to conduct business in the common dining room where the wi fi worked. Hotel needs some noise reduction in the stairway: for the price, the room should be as quiet as a tomb, but we heard everyone come and go all night long. The missed one two things rearding the nice renovation. 1: the woodstairs was VERY noicy when you walk on them. they should but a carpet to cut the noice from the shoes. 2: The ventilation / fan could be better in the beatutiful bathroom. Nothing!. Noisy at night no lift. I didn't like that I didn't have more time to stay. lack of access from bus terminal. 20 minute walk with luggage. Nothing. Not a complaint but an observation, carrying large bags up the stairs could be difficult for some as it is a very stylishly renovated old building with no lift. Nothing. Nothing!. Getting luggage five blocks to the hotel was difficult but they have a reasonably priced service to help out. Stairs , but it is expected in such historical place. Although the staff helped with the luggaue with even asking. The bathrooms hot water has a switch that needs to be turned on which we were not aware of so cold showers were had. Ask to be put in the room away from the kitchen as the chef chops food up early in the morning. The Manager received a phone call whilst we were in earshot, which involved a raised voice and swearing, not very professional. Noise from the hallway was a bit much sometimes. Not all rooms are actually suites - like the one I had... Nothing! It was perfect!. No lift. - Payment solution didn't work. They need to get a more savvy solution like PayPal. No proper reception area. they make you pay in advance, on arrival. no lift, and some rooms are on the third floor. No elevator Breakfast Terrible towels. Minor issues with shower (although staff were quick to action). No lift, no parking and a bit noisy.
