This is my second stay at this hotel. I view hotels as a place to sleep and stick my stuff hopefully at a good bargain. Most of the time I travel, I spend little time in my rooms; either on business or personal travel. This place exceeds my expectations. It is clean, very cost effective and in a great location. It is on a main city bus line, within a minute walk to the bay and seawall jogging path, surrounded by all kinds of very good restaurants, a five minute walk to Stanley Park, a fifteen m.
all reviews » Having the little kitchen was great as was having a dining table to spread out our maps etc and to eat at! The staff were friendly and the room was cleaned daily with fresh towels and soaps etc. There was a good supply of tea and coffee and you could top it up from reception where there was also a free coffee machine - great when you come in from a long day sightseeing. The locatin is ideal with the lovely Stanley Park within walking distance and the beach of English Bay we could watch the ship. The staff are first class in their helpfullness and service. The staff always help us find our way around and with taxis etc. The location is also first class if you want to visit the beach, walk in Stanley Park, visit the mountains for scenery or ski-ing. Have stayed at English Bay Hotel before and would always stay there when we visit Vancouver. English Beach Hotel is spotlessly clean and the rooms are supplied with a large fridge/freezer, cooker, kettle and coffee maker and dining table. Vi. We were in Vancouver for 48 hours and intended to only sleep at the hotel. For a economy hotel, it was more than we expected and were very pleased with our choice. The hotel's location was prime. It was next door to English Bay beach, tons of restaurants and amazing activities. For $10 parking a day we got to park in a secure underground parking, beneath the hotel. The staff were friendly and accomodating. The hotel room was very clean and an abundance of towels and toiletries. Very pleasantly . We chose English Bay Hotel as value for money. It suited our pocket. The managers were very friendly and extremely helpful. It wasn't flash by any means but it was clean and comfortable it was in close proximity to English Bay and Stanley Park in particular and a wide range of eateries as well as only a short walk to the bay on the other side of Downtown Vancouver and the walkway along to Canada Place. If you are looking for luxury, English Bay Hotel would not be for you but it suited us just f. 1)Location and price. 2)Old appliances but worked fine and were adequate for our needs 3)Great helpful staff. Endless supply of coffee, hot choc. 4)Very comfortable bed. 5)Very clean linen. 6)Allowed to check in early-we had 2 bookings made at separate times-total of 9 days.Concierge went to a lot of trouble juggling rooms so that we didn't have to move rooms half way through our stay. 7)No trouble holding luggage for us until we went to the airport late in the afternoon. The English Bay Hotel exceeded my expectations in all respects. My guess is this hotel has recently been refurbished internally. Very clean and comfortable; very helpful staff. Complimentary coffee in foyer. The hotel is perfectly located in Vancouver west end, surrounded by many shops, bars, restaurants. Bus route No.5 to downtown stops just around the corner and runs every few minutes, but English Bay is a stunning location and has everything. It was compact but had a full kitchen - big fridge, stove with oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, pots, pans, dishes. The beds were comfortable. We had a view of the sunset over English Bay. It was very clean. The location is extremely convenient for the beach, Stanley Park and for all the diverse ethnic restaurants on Denman Street.There is check-in at 1 pm. The staff were very helpful and patient. Really good price, too. Rooms 424 and 426 are spacious with ocean view and kitchenette. Bus stops, convenience stores/restaurants, and the beach/Stanley Park sea walls are all just a few steps from hotel. The bathroom is clean. The tea/coffee/chocolate station is nice. Although the hotel is not new but it is good value for the money. We would come back again. -Location is wonderful, just in downtown, close to every thing, bus stop just infront of the hotel, many restaurants specially those looking for Halal food -The room was clean with kitchen, fridge, microwave -I think it is very suitable to anyone who wants to stay in downtown with a good price and near o the english bay and stanley park. I liked having somewhere I could cook and cater for myself. Laundry facilities although separate were good too. The location was super and I loved being by English Bay. I believe it was noisy if you were at the front of the hotel, a comment made to me by another guest in the elevator. But I was at the back and it was very quiet. Staff really helpful and keen to answer any questions about Vancouver and sightseeing. Big room and lucky to have a sea view. Basic kitchen but ideal for keeping costs down doing own breakfast and packed lunches. Really good location, almost on beach, lots of restaurants nearby and easy to walk to most ares of the city. We were allowed to check in early. Great location! Windows that open. Big room (we stayed in a double queen room). Kitchenette had older appliances but worked just fine. Discount grocery store down the street makes the kithenette valuable. Plenty of free coffee for us and hot chocolate for the kids. I've walked past it so many times, and the curb appeal is not great, but I wasn't really aware that it was the hotel I had booked. I had great trepidation when I drove up, but was very pleasantly surprised - the price was awesome, the staff were great, and the room was clean and fairly well appointed. Everything !! This is the 2nd time I stayed at this hotel. It is the only pkace I stay when I go to Van. The view of English Bay and a walk along Beach Ave., Davie, or Denman is a great evening adventure. You have the beach just a block away, Stanley Park and the wonderful seawall walk, an entire street with diverse restaurants and eateries, and even the city is walking distance. The suite had lots of room - was in a great location - was the best value of anything we looked at - and it was clean. The bedroom was well separated from the living room which is good when travelling with older kids. This is a very basic hotel. If you're looking for fancy, go somewhere else. This place is soooooo clean, and since I'm only there to sleep, it was perfect. I loved that I had a kitchenette, TV and internet. We found it best to have two people one to drive and one to operate the electric security gate. The hotel is a bit old and out-dated and the hallways smell like food. But for the money you are paying, you are getting so much more. It is not luxury: so if you want to be pampered or stay in your hotel room, this is not the hotel for you. If like us, you just want a place to stay, then definitely 2 thumbs up!. Having to rely on a fan to cool the room rather than being able to open the windows. Our room was at the back-good because the road noise was reduced, however,no breeze and the room was very hot, despite being supplied with a good fan. Nothing to dislike. The lock was not a deadbolt. There was no a/c, but there was a fan and the windows open, so we were fine on a hot day. The smell of roasted meat wafted in from the restaurant below, but there wasn't the level of street noise we'd expected. - Honestly every thing for me was fine but may be the tv was little old and the shower nob needs special manipulation -sometimes smell comes from close restaurants and some noise and music from street and near restaurants -I was in autumn so using a fan was ok but I think for those coming in summer they have to notice that there is no air condition so it may be hot. It was a bit tatty around the edges but clean. Food smells from the restaurants below permeate throughout. No air conditioning so had windows open at night and a bit noisy at times. The parking was a bit tough to find, and it was a challenge parking my suv in the small area. But the price was right @ $10/night. Sometimes strong food smell in lobby, bathtub could use non skid mat Toilet roll dispenser in bathroom. Shades on the windows one needs to be aware of neighbours across the back alley, perhaps one pillow not quite so large.. Underground parking wasn't tall enough for our vehicle but for $15/day we parked at the next door Sands Best Western open parking lot around the corner, so no problem!. There is no cooling which means you need to open the windows. Unfortunately the stale smells of the kitchens below then fills the room. In really hot weather this could be problematic. Nothin :D. Very tired decor - furniture was shabby and needs replacement. However, the place was clean. Even though we had parking facilities, car park very difficult to enter/depart Parking not free. Was very hot and fan provided but needed to open windows as well, they could not be locked open. Bit old and dated but still great valuein the area. Quite noisy at night although we had been warned about this. The evening beach was pretty but wouldn't stay out late there. Could do with upgrades in certain areas, would benefit from double glazing. Noise from the street. The decor needs updating. Not so good quality build, modest to none decor, carpets need to be renewed. No lounge. Can't think of anything I didn't like. Well, maybe the disinfectant smell that followed maid service. The rooms were a little hot and stuffy. Noise from outside,inevitable given it's location. Needs double glazed windows to block the noise. Car park should be complimentary. Steep ramp to car park. Fine unless you have a big or high vehicle. Building and decoration rather tired, could do with a make over. Needs double glazing, car park access could be a challenge if someone parked opposite entrance. Parking in the basement. Tiny tv set. View of next door apartment block. Street noise was quite annoying on a Saturday night; double glazing would help. There was a funny smell in the corridors (although nothing compared to the smell from a bar next door). Parking garage was not the best set up & there was an awful old food odor on the walk from the parking garage to the lobby. smell on the elevator. It is a wee bit dated and there are really no amenities other than the room but we did not expect any more so were no disappointed. Old building. The shower spigot is a bit low for a tall male. The flow of water from the shower is from an extreme ecological water saving device; quite annoying in requiring significant extra time to wash off soap and shampoo. It more than met my expectations. Nothing. The furnitures are old. The bed is too soft. Their cleaning solution was quite strong smelling. But at least we knew everything was clean!.
