The hotel isn't too big, so we felt everything had a personal touch. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and although they all speak English, they appreciated our (very poor) attempts at French.We ate often in the Saint James, and enjoyed the food and atmosphere there, as well as the friendly and efficient staff. Our room had recently been renovated and was really nice. The location was excellent, certainly what your website stated. I tend to rely on other visitor comments and found them to be very helpful. I do not have one negative thing to say about the stay and the staff were very friendly and after a long night of travelling accomodated us immediately with a room, which was a very pleasant surprise.
all reviews » The gym and spa were fantastic. I took advantage of both while I was there. The pool looked great, but I never got a chance to jump in. I had a massage in the spa by and it was probably one of the best massages I've ever received. The gym was decent, although an additional treadmill would be good as it was a favourite machine. I have never stayed at a hotel with such friendly staff. They were there for whatever you needed and the service was spectacular. I will definatley stay at this hotel again if I go back to Quebec City and not even bother to find a different one. I can not say enought good things about this hotel and my stay.Excellent service, excellent location, decent price. Excellent for kids,they love children. Huge flight of stairs from Cote de Palais, Taxis cannot access the St Jean (level floor) entrance because street is closed. Main Lobby desperately needs a lift to reception. Lifts within hotel very slow/unreliable and corridors long. Bistro Saint James was disappointing- waited 40 minutes for very mediocre breakfast. Use Paillard across the street instead.Saint James - bar-bistro. My husband and I had one breakfast there. The price was high for the service and the quality of the meal. After waiting for the table to be cleaned, we needed to use our napkins to finish the job; then a long wait to be served with less than an average breakfast, with a fruit salad looking "tired". The rooms are a little dated but bed was comfortable and bathroom fine.The towels were small and ragged which I put on their own guest questionnaire suggesting they invest in some new ones!. Yes slow service at the restaurant especially at breakfast where i waited nearly 30 minutes to be offered a coffee or juice. street noise. the room was too small as well as the bed. we were given a room with a 4' (not even a double) bed which meant we did not sleep on the first night. We were able to change the room for the second night and although this was done without too much question the receptionist was sarcastic.The Sauna was often too cold. Some of the staff were not as helpful as they could have been.
