The hotel is an attractive, nicely restored mansion that is close to train station ( walk in 15 minutes) and the tram or bus to get to the old city is only a block away. Take tram 4 from the train station if you do not want to walk to the hotel. Get off at the 3rd stop then walk one block. Gerald, the manager, was a most pleasant person and warmly greeted us and provided much useful information upon arrival. The hotel is situated in a large mansion which used to be a number of things in the past and is nicely transformed into a (mere) fifteen room accommodation. The king- sizey bed was excellent and the bathroom was nice. We also had a great time in the City of Ghent, which we had a nice walk to (about 20-30 minutes) and returned from by tram. There are a number of cheap public transport op. This hotel is a gem. Located in a very nice area near public transport. We stayed for 3 days: took the bus in to Gent's historical centre, and the train the other days to visit Brussels and Brugge. Bus stops and station within easy walking distance. We were in the self catering flat - it would have benefitted from having mugs and cereal bowls. Everything was great. Room doors noise reduction could be improved. mattress is too soft. Our room was incredibly hot, despite it being fairly cool outside (~50F/10C). There was no A/C and the windows only opened a crack...not enough to let in much air, but just enough to fill the room with mosquitoes. We ended our stay with little sleep and covered in bites. Also, the hotel is located in a residential area a good ways out of the old town. It made for a nice walk (30-60 min), but would have been nice to have more nearby. Only one bedside table and lamp. Sauna not working. Noisy as anything , from creaking floorboards to rooms next door where you can hear every word said. The hotel is described not exactly it is; location is not good, we couldn't find it, aldough the staff was very helpful on the phone. Too expensive for the facilities, breakfast too.
