the rooms were very clean and tidy, very good layout and furniture. clean beds, floors. everything spotless including linens. great kitchen and lounge areas. quiet and very comfortable. hostess most helpful. Location for what I needed - close to my office, to Macquarie Uni Pool for my exercise & to SOPAC which as the purpose of my visit (to officiate at a Swimming NSW meet).
all reviews » Loved the veranda and great facilities. Felt like a home away from home. Will definitely be staying there on my next business trip to Sydney. Friendly and helpful owners, who helped me with a share of their food at night, as there were no other food shops close by to buy from. everything, great facilities, free internet, free local calls on landline phone, private parking, quiet location, nice people, etc.... Proximity to Sydney Olympic Park as we were there to compete in a sporting event. Kitchen facilities so we could cook our own meals. It was clean, the room had air conditioning, free wifi and the bathroom was fine. It was basic but useable for our purposes. Friendly staffs.The room is nice and clean. Provide tea,coffee and sugar. Free wifi not been turned off this time at 10pm as we asked to use it for booking onward accommodation when we checked in at 9.45pm. The free wifi (available only until 10pm!). Reasonably priced, very clean most was of a reasonable standard. there were a few to many lights in the bedroom - it was too bright and the bedside lamp was missing a bulb. shower drain was little blocked. Parking was a bit tight, having to share a bathroom / toilet with people I didn't know. Not resturants/food joints closeby or at walking distance. The next room neighbors who turned off the air conditioner at night because his Girl friend was sick and coughing. Dint bother me too much as the weather was pleasant that night, but I can imagine how uncomfortable it would be on a really hot/cold day!. only inconvenience is - a little walk (10-15min) to train station, OK when nice day and fresh, but when coming back home after all day out and tired, not so good :). No individual room air conditioning controls. only one chair in the room. No tourist info available. No transport info available (taxi numbers, train and bus timetables). noisy occupants of the rooms next door late at night and early in the morning. Lack of fresh air. No advice re opening the steel window shutters and windows. No breakfast option. We thought it was closer to the airport and we did get lost getting to north ryde. It is a bit run down, so don't expect to much it's a bed only. Nothing around, but 10 minutes walk to the train station. The fact that I had to pay for a single bed to be put in the room when I had booked the room specifically because it was supposed to have two beds - I was staying with my adult son. Also I received a modified booking notice on my email on the morning of our check in which was almost half the price but was unaware of that until after I had signed the voucher at the guest house. I was too busy to check this out so have paid the original price plus the extra for the extra bed. There is no WIFI from 22:00 to 07:00. Noise with close proximity of other customers. Nobody to contact on check-out and nowhere to put the key. BBQ was provided but no gas bottle. hard to locate coming from newcastle. Noise from outside the room. Sliding door to room has large gap when locked. Parking awkward - used road. Built in robes horrible. Leaking water in toilet and shower. I burnt ironing board cover and charged $20 when it needed replacing anyway as stained. It was a freezing winters day & was only given a thin blanket to sleep in. We froze the whole night & didn't get any sleep. Walls were thin & could hear 2 other people in the house that were staying there at the crack of dawn coughing, swearing and rumaging in the kitchen draw. It was 1 of the worse nights I have had. Room was right next to the shared bathroom, we were woken up at 1.30am and 3.30am with people coming in late and having a shower. No staff on hand to control this so guests did not care about making noise. Check out time was advertised as midday but was told this should be 10am. Do not stay at this place, avoid. This was an extremely noisy place with a shared bathroom and communal kitchen and lounge. Shared bathroom was for 3 rooms ie up to 6 people waiting their turn. Room basic, thin walls and air con was controlled from the kitchen so if one person turned it on every room got it. This is an upmarket backpackers. Bathroom could use a little update or wall paper replaced/striped and painted over.
