location 10 min walk from White House, also other sites walkable. staff very helpful and friendly hop on /off bus service stops outside hotel. Very good room and bed excellently maintained and decorated-very smart hotel sports bar/restaurant good and convenient if too tired to go restaurant hunting. I enjoyed the lively yet subdued atmosphere of the lobby...the room was smartly-appointed and clean...the staff at each designation (reception, the bartenders, the navigation desk and valet attendants) were professional, helpful, and friendly.
all reviews » The hotel staff was excellent. I told them it was my anniversary and we were given a celebration package of chocolate covered strawberries and champagne for free. They completely exceeded my expectations. 1) Location was nice 2) hotel lobby was lovely and lively 3) breakfast (included in our room rate) was excellent and staff members in restaurant were fantastic! 3) loved the selection of newspapers. I loved the location of the hotel and the Ambiance. The restaurant was also Great! The chef came out to greet us and our waiter was amazing... As a weekend get away we were thoroughly pleased with our hotel accommodation. With our next visit I definitely will schedule a visit to the spa. The lobby was spectacular. Have to pay for internet access in the room. 1) apparently no ventilation in bathroom - couldn't see a thing in mirror after short shower 2) covering on window was inadequate - way too bright in room at night 3) I knew from other reviews that outside noise would be a problem so I requested high floor. Even on 14th floor it was loud. Sound insulation between rooms was also inadequate. I was placed by an exit door (room 1001) and the constant slamming all night kept me awake and nervous since I was alone in my room. Also my cousin's room had a very strange scent (almost stinky) her room was 1008. I the beginning she thought that I might be the bed (maybe the sheets) so she called housekeeping, but no one came. The trip was too short. This hotel is more for business not family with children but the location was great for walking to sites. Room looked right into another building so you had to keep the blind drawn at all times. Small issue given everything else was perfect. I booked the hotel through a third party. The hotel could not read my specifics therefore the room did accommodate us with some of our special needs. I even wrote notes in the space provided but wasted my time because the hotel said they could not access this. The room was not what I had booked based on the pictures shown. Found a used tea bag in coffee maker. The walls are extremely thin and our neighbors were very loud. However, we could hear everything in the hallways also - it would be nice if they sound proof the doors/walls better. Also would be nice to have free wifi. nothing. Beds were a little tough. The amenities were really expensive (ex. internet, parking), and there was no information easily available about what amenities were offered (for example, I only found the weather info available on the TV by accident and on our last day). Ran out of the good beer!. having to pay for wifi when the rooms are expensive anyway. There was some noise from the next door room. It was bearable and didn't last very long. Noise did carry through the corridor. None. Nothing. Construction across the street and the noise at 6am was very loud. My room was across from the elevator, so constant noise out the front door. Front Desk staff not so friendly. Unfortunately, the hotel was not able to keep the noise level down with the renovations they did, every door slam is extremely loud and we were kept awake until 4:30 am due to guests in the adjoining room "partying". The staff did their best and I know you can't control rude, inconsiderate people; but this will make me re-think if I stay there again. I was extremely disappointed that close their room service at midnight! I had to order food from a deli and sit in lobby for30 mins. This was not okay and no plans to stay there again. Booked the big bus tour from the hotel, that was nice but tour itself is bad, long wait at stops and not a lot to see. Stick with the museums and national mall! (20 mins walk from hotel). Food was overpriced ($50 for two for breakfast buffet) - I expect better food for the cost. I was able to hear everything on the street from the 6th floor (people,cars, etc..)- you need better windows. I was not able to sleep and had to be on the convention floor 10 hrs a day. I have stayed in other downtown hotels without this problem. I will not stay here again because of the noise.
