The rate online was very competitive for a city stay. They provided complimentary bottled water and cookies in the afternoon. As a guest, you get a discount at the adjoining cafe, which providing a convenient breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They held my bags at the front desk after I checked out, while I got my rental car. They also found some belongings that I inadvertently left behind and made sure that I got them. The location can't be beat, right in the heart of the Cit.
all reviews » Ideally situated for everything. In Union Square in 2 minutes and easy access to all forms of transport. Staff were friendly and helpful and the diner next door excellent. Everything on the doorstep. Being in the city centre meant it was noisy at night but earplugs were provided. We slept very well without resorting to them. Very happy with it all and thoroughly recommend the hotel. I thought the room was adorable and it wasn't too loud for how close it was to the road/city. The staff was so sweet and when we said our room was cold, they immediately turned the heat on and let the room toast up while we were out in the city. Staff was also very accommodating for holding our luggage, and made sure to give us a heads up about the looming BART strike. Perfect location Value for money Great cafe downstairs a little noisy, but wonderful to hear the wonderful noises of the city! - did not disturb my sleep though. it's an older hotel yes, but the location, price, the staff were just wonderful and when in SF the little amount of time spent in your room make the Touchstone great value for money. Excellent friendly staff. Wonderful room and being a city person I didn't mind the sound of traffic flowing on Geary Street. Centrally located. Comfortable room with a nice sized flat screen TV, being a 49ers fan that was welcomed as our stay coincided with the play-offs. Overall 5 out of 5 stars. Loved it, would stay again. It's simple, but enought to take a rest after enjoy the city. The staffs were very friendly, the room was clean and the price for stay was very available. And finaly the localization was near of the most important things. If you are a person who doesn't mind of luxury hotels, you would like it a lot. I was very safe and comfortable here, the room was clean, the bed was good and I had the choice of a few different television channels. The concierge also booked my airport shuttle in the morning for just $15 (as opposed to $10 to walk several blocks with all my bags to the bart) or $50 for a cab. One of the cheapest hotels around Union Square when I booked it. The location is very good, the neighborhood is decent. The staff is nice. The Wifi is good. If you are looking for a cheap/safe/convenient place to sleep without expecting much comfort or prestige, then this hotel is for you!. This hotel is small and quaint and in a great location, within walking distance to great restaurants, shopping and transportation. We thought it was great that we could open the windows and enjoy some fresh air and the city sights and sounds. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Comfortable beds, huge bathroom, plenty of lighting in the room, cookies at the front desk, great location with close parking, conveniently located by both a Walgreens for all those last minute things you might need, very close to AT&T Park, best stay I have had in San Francisco. - Easy to find - friendly service - held luggage pre- and post-checkout free of charge - included breakfast was good (better than most hotels offer) - close to cable cars, BART station, and other modes of transportation - hotel was clean, comfortable. Would go back again! :-). It is definitely "no frills", at least the room that I got. It had a "view" of a shaft and really old windows shades. There were no room controls for heat/air conditioning, but the fan provided made it comfortable. Earplugs were on the bedstands, presumably because the walls are a bit thin, but it really wasn't noisy. The only thing we would have liked would have been a little more water pressure in the shower but that is being very picky!. There was a long black hair on our bed, which really wasn't a problem but still isn't ideal. I wish the cute decor in the room carried over into the bathroom. The phone chord in our room (403) was ripped out, which didn't cause problems but could for other visitors. My room looked right out over the street and as it was a Saturday night, it was quite noisy throughout the night. Water from the tap has a dark yellow color, you should not even use it for brushing your teeth (but then the hotel provides complimentary bottles of water every day). The hotel has no real lobby, just a small counter besides a stairway, as all the first floor of the building is occupied by shops. There was nothing I didn't like. Our room was small, but nicely appointed. We had everything we needed for this trip. The room was a little more expensive than we anticipated, however, since we were charged for an extra guest. - 1 street over was a sketchy area (but the immediate area felt safe). Since we were 5 persons, we took 2 rooms, one with wood floor and a blindt bath, and the other with moquette floor and a beautiful window. Rooms were cleaned on average, but looking deeply in the corners they could be cleaned more. We didn't enjoy the Davi's restaurant close to the hotel: they claim 25% of discount, but they applied a fixed tip of 20% !!! really too much!. Rooms certainly a little be little but this is not important because you do not stay in a long time during the day. Was surprised not to get facecloths with the (otherwise good) towel collection; if I stay here again I'll have to remember that. Not exactly a dislike, but they don't have breakfast. They offer a 25% discount at their Deli (we didn't eat there, so, no comments about the food). everything was great. Our room was facing the alley way behind the Hotel. Very noisy all throughout the night. After four nights of that we were ready to get on our way. Other than that every thing else was lovely. The whole place smelled a little bit, but it wasn't too bad. Can't stop the water in the tub so we could only have a shower, but that's good enough. TV was not working properly, no good signal and screen is rather small... but wasn't there to watch tv anyways. Small room. shower blocks a little, and there were normal city noises outside but it was still great. Noise from the street (glad that I brought earplugs) but that is on the other hand only to be expected for such great location in the middle of the city centre. Bed is not comfortable!. A lot of street noise at night, but I had read other reviews so was prepared with earplugs; they helped!. Very noisy - traffic. Earplugs provided but not enough to block out din. Hot in room so had to have windows open. no air conditioning but only windows that can be opened. heater and iron are old. no coffee-making facility is available. Some street noise but minimal. The room was small and smell as if it had been closed up for a while. Also the air and the heat in the room did not work properly but it was bearable. The windows do not cut off the city noise completely. The ear-plugs provided were - well - quaint/amusing The reception area could be a little better maintained. Only that the wi-fi was a bit hit and miss - I have no hesitation in recomending this hotel. it is not the hotel problem may be, but mobile coverage was not that good inside the hotel. It was very expensive for what it is, but that is probably due to it being in San Francisco, since it was the cheapest we found. Our room is facing towards the street so it is noisy and you can hear people yelling outside till 4 a.m. It was a little smaller than anticipated. Shower is very small but I was ok with it. It would be a challenge for a bigger person or a pregnant person. And no coffee pot in the room. :-(. Room was small but was comfortable. The roma need a Little update . Room was darkness. no much sun light. elevator is old. It was a little loud but to be expected in the city center. A few street people around like most big city's. Still felt safe.
