Hotel had a more personable feeling about it - some of the larger hotels are so impersonal. Staff were extremely friendly and greeted you upon arrival and departure. Staff were very responsive. The location is extremely good - quiet and within walking distance to many of the tourist sites. Overall had an excellent stay at Taj and would like to thank the staff for excellent service. This is an outstanding hotel. The service is superb and the staff courteous and polite. The dining experience is fabulous, and the chicken curry (ask for the white meat to be changed for dark meat) is divine. Room service is rapid, with the slowest delivery being 32 minutes - that would be extremely fast for most 5 star hotels that I have stayed in.
all reviews » Every single staff member I encountered, whether it was a doorperson, concierge, desk clerk or housekeeper, was extremely polite and genuinely nice and friendly. Loved the huge bathroom and took as many baths as possible in the wonderful soaking tub...excellent bath products as well!. Staff were particularly gracious. Doorman (Dan) always very kind. Concierge was also excellent. Very pleasant bar and bar menu, independent of the dining room which has always been recognized for fine cuisine. Perfect place to stay, particularly for shopping. All staffs are very nice and attentive; also very helpful and responsive. They are very polite and make me and my family feel home. The location is also very good and the surrounding area are clean and safe. The room was very comfortable with plenty of drawer and closet space. I was on a high floor with a view of Union Square--comfortable bed, great lighting, fabulous soaking bathtub. Comfortable, quiet room and friendly staff. Very helpful with recommendations on popular restaurants and points of interest. Town car was made available for city traveling. Valet and door service was excellent. A minor complaint but the fitness room was bare minimal, and one of the pieces of equipment was broken. Nothing. The in-room Nespresso coffee machine didn't work. The Japanese breakfast through room service was just ok--not what you'd expect from a hotel that boasts a Michelin one star restaurant. The first room we were sent to was not up to our standards; however, we were moved to a very nice room at no additional charges without making us feel uncomfortable for the complaint. I called a day before arrival and requested early check in. You could imagine my disappointment the entire morning because my room only came available at 3PM. Also, I was denied a few hour late check out despite the lack of attention that I received when I arrived. Breakfast far too expensive and stiff environment for quick bite before busy day. Paying for Internet. One of the concierges and some of the desk staff were a little too aloof for my taste and expectations but bistro staff were all absolutely wonderful. Parking/valet was hard to find but it was a busy weekend. Taxes and add on fees changed the price dramatically. Carpet in room was old and torn. No free wifi and only allowed 1free complementary coffee each in our room, when we payed 350 dollars per night !!!. union square at 5 pm but this hotel is an oasis in the midst of the madness. My only complaint is that your croissants are not as they should be. I think that everything served in a first rate hotel should be first rate.( I understand that the croissants made by your previous supplier were far better than those we were served. ). everything is OK. least expensive rooms very small (but still adequate). In room coffe maker was too complicated . next to the elevator which I pretended sounded like the SF wind. had to move rooms as there was a wining central heating unit. , but helpful and fixed a faulty basin plug immediately when requested. The gym on the roof and it was cold. No free wifi in the guest room. too pricey for what it delivers in terms of decoration, amenities, etc. The Restaurant is too small and while service was excellent the kitchen messed up our order. Dining room breakfast menu has not changed in at least 5 years. Although I specified quiet room, I was on 16th floor (good) next to elevator (bad noise). The mini bar was never refilled. Had to call and ask for diet cokes and coffee. They only brought one diet coke. Onone day we left early about 8:30 am and retired around 3:30pm. The room had not been cleaned. Parking was unreasonably expensive. The lobby is not as elegant as the rest of the hotel. Room, Internet for Fee, Not a 5-star interior. very, very outdated hotel ugly lobby old rooms internet /wifi not included and expensive.
