We stayed here one night because of the proximity to the airport for an early morning flight. The rooms were comfortable and the cafe open all day when we needed it. Location was good because of the airport - but that is all that is there. You really couldn't do anything else in that vicinity. The shuttle coming and going to the airport was convenient and punctual. The free and convenient airport shuttle service to the Newark International Airport ever 15 minutes from which you can take a train into Manhattan. I would often stop at the little restaurant in the evenings inside the hotel to have a bite to eat, which I was greatful for being open late!.
all reviews » It was near the airport. I stayed two different nights coming and going from Newark International. The room was clean, pleasantly furnished and comfortable. The front desk was good about waking me and arranging a taxi for my early morning departing flight back to London. Very close to airport. Shuttle wait not too long. Nice staff. Very good value for money. Big room with microwave and fridge. Flat screen TV. 25 dollar return bus to Times Square good value as right outside hotel. Gym on site. Small shop is handy. If you plan to stay in this HoJo travelling from abroad you have to be aware that there is a bunch of toll posts on the road and parking at the hotel is extra 15 bucks per night. Consider this if you plan to stay here but spend some time in nyc. It serves it's purpose.. Late night arrival at ewr - Howard Johnson is quick/ easy-1mile from the departure terminal for my 5am flight usair- a comp'd shuttle runs every 30min.(tip driver :) . Clean bed for a quick night rest. clean basic accommodation ideal for limited budget, or a place to 'lay your head' as a passing traveller. close to airport and with courtesy coach links with airport. also available link with city. We loved the wonderful and delicious Philly steak sandwiches in the restaurant. We also liked the closeness of the hotel to the Newark airport and the free transport to and from airport. The shuttle service was very nice and spacious enough for our luggage. The drivers always go extra mile to make us happy. The facilities were great. Generally, there's value for money. The restaurant has great food and prices are good compared to the area. hotel was about 15 mins from Newark Penn Station. Room was clean and well kept. I liked that were all as advertised on T.V. very nice! Also a shuttle takes u to ny straight from hotel nice only $15 an brings u back up to 11pm. The food was great. I was surprised. I stay there a lot because the price is reasonable (in unreasonably priced New York) and the hotel provides all the services I need: free wifi, refrigerator & microwave in room, restaurant on premises, and even a laundromat!!. Bit noisy but it is next to the airport to be fair. Its not a resort type destination as in an industrial type place, but good for the airport and cheap. The Philly cheese steak wasn't the greatest- fries were good- all in all - just thankful to have hot food after traveling 18 hrs from germany. slightly noisy heating system in room. There isn't anywhere to walk to around the hotel. It is all industry. One of the restaurant attendant appears arrogant and the food is not too fantastic. The internet service is week inside the room. $15 for parking that was never communicated and it was for secured park, no gate guards, gates wide open. Nothing secure about this parking. I didn't like that your visiters have to pay for parking if passed 2 hrs. I went to the desk 3 times to let the staff know that the fridge wasn't working and nothing got done about it. My ice packs for the next day melted and my milk for my grandson went bad. One desk staff person particulary grumpy. otherwise, all was well. There is no drinking water in room or on the floor, only near the lobby. Nothing. Folks at the front desk seemed confused when calling about services like the shuttle bus.I Had phoned to find out the location/cross streets and if there was public transportation to the hotel. The person answering the phone seemed unclear about public transport or even the location from where I was. It took a good deal of time to find out there was a shuttle from the airport. Was good to know, once I did get the right response. having to pay for parking while staying at the hotel. Need to trim back plants from sign as we missed entrance and ended up back on freeway. Bed was a bit unstable (lucky i was on my own!). Towels not fluffy enough. Was charged more and I need my refund. Was charged 15% tax instead of 14% as shown at time of booking. Mattress too hard. Had to pay for parking. Bed was very hard. Not too much at, the remote on the TV didnt work and the list had issues, but minor issues for me. .. Need a bar!. Airplane noise. The entrance to parking lot. the extra charge for parking per night. The hotel is so far from NYC and transportation by train is expensive. Hairs on towels. The wiFi is very poor!. Too close to airport! Airplanes fly directly overhead and caused tons of noise until midnight or so... nothing was a problem. none. no early morning breakfast for early flight passangers. I wish that they had breakfast included in the room, also that you had to pay for parking. It was an extra $50 bucks just to park my car. It is far from Manhattan (but has a shuttle) and has no bar, nothing else around unless you have a car - but these are small inconveniences considering all the advantages.
