What people say
Near the subway, near the Central Park, good services. location. price.Clean. Good price. Perfect for parking and taking subways. The staff (Sandra, Rob, Irene and company) were very helpfull. I travelled with a 8 month old baby, they were really accomoding. Take your shower n the morning since when it is clean, not everyone in the shared batroom take a moment to clean after they leave. The bed and sheets were very clean. all reviews »
I enjoyed that the hostel was situated in a very nice area (close to Central Park and a subway station); nice staff. The staff was really cool and the room was clean. No bugs and nice room mates. Great location. We return to this hostel because of its excellent value for money and location.Games room was kool and the free pizza on friday nights is real! Bathroom was very clean and rooms were spacious and clean too. That the hostel was in Manhattan and extremely close to the subway. The perfect location and value for money. Hotel was fine. Clean and really handy for the subway. It's location was a plus. It's situated in a quiet part of the city close to central park and the subway. Although it says 95th St on the website adress- its front entrance is on 94th St. Our room was a good size. Although bathroom facilities are shared they were kept clean, we didn't have to wait much to use them and the showers had good water pressure. 24hr reception desk and security. Elevator. The price - rather cheap for a Manhattan Hostel - and the location -close to Central Park.I did not expect all the facilities the Candy hostel has. I found it a rather complete hostel. cheap, quiet central, wlan in rooms, 24hrs recepion. Its cheap. No closing time, entrance at any time. It was cheap and near the subway...The coffee machine. price, location. location. The staff was very helpfull and the price of the room very nice. The fact that there always was security at the hotel. location and price. Some people of the staff were very friendly, others not at all. But thefriendly staff evened out for the moody ones. Close to metro station and central park. Prices are quite low for NY.position, internet, locker, clean, close to the metro. It was airconditioned and it had a tv in the room.Location and the price was reasonable. Free and fast wi-fi in the lobby. the bed and cleanliness. close to city. the location. The location is indeed good. Good for budget travelling. It was considerably close to the attractions: the museums, central park, times square...showers, toilets. price. near to central park. Its location. Nothing, it is really the worst hotel I ever been. getting better elevator, because we had to wait a lot for that.No table surface at all in the room. The hotel room did not look at all like the picture on booking.com. Is was an older version, but was clean. Anyway, when we go to new-york, it's to see the city, not stay in the room. The only thing I could say bad is the cleanliness of the guests in the shared bathroom..... i think alot of them werent housetrained, so the bath was nasty and the toilet after sum peoples visits in there...... Don't expect to get the room you see on website photo's- it's wise to ask to see your room before paying. I saw a mouse in the common room and we spoke with some girls who had mice nibble on biscuits they had left in an open suitcase. The girls found the mouse hole, blocked it up and didn't hear from their fury friends again. Apart from this our stay at the hostal was pretty enjoyable. The sheets were not too clean, but hey... other hostels/hotels do not even dare to use white bedding;). quiet small rooms, no wardrobe/cupboard. I suggest not to bring any food to your room, cause we (and some others) had mice in our room. They do offer another room when wanted. The social room is kinda hidden. Bit of a trek to and from reception etc from the room.cleanliness. the thing i didn't really appreciete is the cleaness of the room and the bathroom, so dirty! i never saw the bathroom really clean and i didn't know if it was wash or not maybe verry fastly... For the room they just take the rabbish out and didn't pass the vacuum cleaner even one time during our week! It was the big point we didn't like.the staff wasn't very friendly, and there was construction going on. cleanliness. The pictures on the site are not at all representative of what thehostel is in reality. They must have redecorated a few rooms and usedthis as their 'business-card'. The superior room (which holds a max. Of4 people) is not big enough for four people. And believe me, I'm not thefancy traveller type. For the rate we payed, the hostel is O.K. Staff at the reception wasn't friendly. We waited 20 minutes before they started to check-in us.-paying in advance!, personnel was unfriendly and not service-oriented, the price on the website was not all-in, the room was very small, difficult to store things (no hooks!), bed too small, you couldn't make the room really dark at night, so that you awoke early every day, address on the website was wrong!!!. The staff were not very friendly and were talking loudly, swearing etc amongst themselves in front of hotel guests which we found very rude and inappropriate. Also the blinds in our rooms were not long enough for the window. The room didn't look like the photo. Linnen was not clean, we missed the standard room equipement ( hangers...) Hotel personal was not helpful at all. front desk. no outlets in the room, not a comftable bed, too small room, no free internet - as said, the taxiservice to the airport - the prices are more expencive than said. cleanliness noise all through the night. There wasn't even a hanger in the room, it would not cost anything to have a hanger or two in the room. Not to forget there wasn't a hair blow dryer, not even fixed to the wall...beds, space in room. the photos in the internet looked totaly different...single room was a tiny bunk bed room. The room's size was very small, we couldn't move in the room. Dirty; no furniture at all in the bedroom, except a huge TV set, which we did not switch on; how about at least a chair and a hook to hang our coat or two or three shelves to put something on and not just soap? How about cleaning the bathroom and making sure there is toilet paper?. There was a random stain of either lipstick or blood on the towel with I was provided. The room was much smaller than anticipated. The staff on the night we arrived was monosyllabic and unfriendly (albeit that the lady the following morning was helpful and courteous). it was non of my interest to do anything because of the situations of the hostel,i feld really bad the first min i saw the room, paying more for a room like that.is a big mess. Everything needs to improve. it was worst experience of my life, i do understand that its a budget hostel and didnt expect a luxury accomodation, but i wish hotel staff were more helpful and freindly instead of sleeping under reception desk any time of the day and being grumpy. And absolute shock was when i found out that chocolate in my bag been eaten by mouse or rat. No more comments from me... never-ever again!.
