The location is perfect. Pretty near of touristic sites, such as Time Square, Rockfeller Center, Empire State Building and others. Subway lines are pretty near also. The rooms are cleaned everyday. Although bathroom is shared, there is no inconvenient about it once there are more than one per floor. The staff is friendly. Good option for one who wants to be in a good location of New York paying not much.
all reviews » The hotel was very interesting, it had a very vintage feel to it like the studios in foreign movies. The room was very clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable! I also loved how close it was to everything we planned on doing in Manhattan. The staff was all super friendly and they even had a security buzzer on the entrance which was a plus for me. The location of this hotel was great! Times Square and Bryant Park were a couple of blocks away and so was Herald Square which is shopping central for NY (pretty much). The staff was helpful and friendly and the rooms were clean albeit slightly small. We were two people with lots of luggage but fit in with ease. The staff were particularly helpful, friendly, kind and honest. We left two items in the hotel and they were located and returned, most helpful staff. Location is excellent, and lots of hot water!!. My wife and I arrived to the Americana Inn a bit afraid due to the uneven reviews that we read about the place. Nothing to be afraid of, as long as you know where you are getting, of course! Rooms are smallish and there is no luxury, but some of the people who complain should have read the hotel specifications beforehand. In our view, it was all what we needed. Rooms clean, comfortable bed, TV in room, working air conditioned, clean shared bathrooms (ration 1 every 2 rooms or so) and excellent . good location (close to Emire State bldng, Central park, Times square). Shared bathrooms (4 on floor) were clean. There is sink in the room. If you are going to stay for several day to visit NY it good place. The location is perfect. 5 minute to the best Brodway hall, 5 min to Times Square and other important place. Staff service is very comfortable, and it is very clean and tidy. A two star has a batghroom in the room not a community bathroom in the hallway. The sheets were so thin I thought I was going to rip them, the air conditioner so loud It sounded like we were next to the airport. Extremely poor value for $200.00 a night. You might get an unsuspecting out of tower once but not twice. This was the worst place I've every stayed!. One very minor thing, really. I'm neurotic about using public bathrooms, but even though it was shared it was incredibly clean. The comforter covers on the beds were slightly shabby and although clean, looked otherwise. The linen otherwise was spotlessly white. Also, there is no WIFI in this hotel. If you're lucky you might catch a signal from the hotel next door or from Pret a Manger on the corner. All fine. Couldn't dislike/fault anything as the description of the facilities were accurate. No WiFi, internet usage for a fee No Air conditioner, they should at least have table fan in each room for those hot days because when you open window its so much of noise. Fan would help to keep window shut, and also whirling fan would counter outside noise. No ice machine was really only problem. No wifi, windows don't keep out much traffic noise. Very small rooms, loud traffic noise, a/c was very loud. No heaters in room, noisy at night and slow lift. No bathroom in room. Central heating in the winter was ridiculously hot and there was no individual room control. The room was stuffy and therefore uncomfortable. To open a window for ventilation meant exposure to excessive trafiic noise. Either way it was impossible for a comfortable nights sleep. the entry is too small hard to find. There was nothing in the kitchenette to use for even a cup of tea. A cup, plate, knife and fork would do well in each room. The smell of cigarette smoke wafted down from ??? the roof. Shared bathroom. the rooms smells of cigarette smoke (but it was non-smoking room); there is no wi-fi in the room (my room was on the third floor and my iphone can catch to Pret a Manger wi-fi (pret22, password hotchef), but it didn't work; really small room; window can't be closed fully, so it was cold there (I stayed in hotel in December); all looks dirty (maybe because bad smell). There is no shampoo or showergel in the room, only soap. The noisy from air conditioner. It is noisy at night when I can heard the noise outside from the street. Very noisy, there was a gap between window and A/C, therefore the room got cold. noisy. Guests are permitted to smoke and it smells a lot. pictures on the internet showed a room with space and a view - we didn't have a view and no space at all really bathrooms were a bit flooded in the morning. small room, not new. Bathrooms should be cleaned more often. Street noise at night. rooms was too small. Bedbugs in my bed, human hair of previous sleeper in the bed. Disgusting. The air condition/rather say a loud vent. that needs to be turned on, otherwise their is no air in the room. The problem is that it is so loud that it is hard to sleep. Over 60 Db at least. Shared bathroom No internet Virtually no TV channels Very basic. The shower and toilet facilities, sticky piss on the floor and pubes all over the places. Tacky, beat up and not well maintained. Cheap but it should have been cheaper for the little that was offered. Terrible stay. Too numerous to list.
