I loved their restaurant .....wonderful pancakes....and shrimp cocktail ....though our server Monica was unfriendly and provided poor service The front desk staff on both shifts were extremely wonderful....card center staff nice....room small but comfortable...great windows...great air conditioning....very clean except bathtub ...was kinda gross...played a couple machines ..no luck but had fun....love the dancers!!.
all reviews » I loved the location. Valet parking was great and fast. Room were nice but a little small. The bed was not a true queen more like a full size. I am 5"4 and my feet hung off bed. But great for just wanting a place to crash after a night in vegas. I like the History of the Golden Gate, if you do your research you can imagine what is was like in its hay day, from the rate pack to the earlier mobsters, it was an exciting time. Being right on Fremont street, great location for adult entertainment, maids were very friendly, front desk folks were great, nice relaxing atmosphere, valet guys were great!!!. The low price was great. The room was small but clean. I wasn't in the room much except to sleep. Location was fine for Fremont St. Experience. I stayed in a suite on the 3rd floor. It was very nice and reasonable. The casino is one of the most exciting ones on Fremont St. I loved the renovation and remodel back to period charm. They did a very good job. Nice hotel, even though it is older. Easy off/on from freeway. Comfortable beds. Great location, excellent price, nice staff, great experience in Las Vegas. Shower faucets didn't work, old and broken had to take a very hot shower. Bathrooms need updating ASAP. Al tho the Casino changed its check in and front desk the artifact in the front lobby presents much in its history, I think they should have given it a 1906 feel to that part just to add to the history, but i have no dislikes. No frig or micro in room, shower water temp control was all over the place, no other issues, it's just an old place. Staff not well informed. Hotel does not have 1(800) number. The contact email address is no longer valid. A printed card in the room listed snacks, bottled water and a safe in every room. I found none of these in my room. The coating in the tub was coming off. Some of my friends stayed on the 2nd floor in reg rooms and were very unhappy.They said rooms were so small that you couldn't even open up the bathroom door without hitting thr toilet. Rooms were small, but that's part of the charm. Bathroom was not the cleanest. No complimentary coffee- hated that! Noisy garbage pickup. The bathroom floor. The grout needs to be cleaned out of the tile. We showered with sandals because we were afraid of stepping in there barefoot. The rooms facing onto Freemont street would be very noisy at night but the ones facing onto the street (which we had) or middle of the hotel are fine. This is an old hotel that has been nicely refurbished, so don't expect a lot of "room" in your room. Door to the bathroom hits the toilet to get into the bathroom and can "bare"ly turn around in the shower, but heh, how much time do you spend in your room in Vegas anyway. Way too loud. Music should be turned down. The room was small and the bathroom was a little scary. staff were not alway as friendly as would like. Casino turns up they music from 8pm to 2am to very uncomfortable levels. Table games are difficult because of the volumn. I was on the 3rd floor and casino music can be heard over your tv and conversation inside your room. Sleep is nearly impossible. TURN IT DOWN. Shower would fluctuate between hot and cold. Coffee maker didn't work. Nothing. - it was quite noisy (though I did get "guiet room") - small bathroom. Walls were dirty, the whole hotel smells like urine... I know it is an old building but should not smell like that. Needs repairs. We stayed in room #324 (We kept joking that it was the old maids room- very small and ackward). The bathroom was too small. Kept hitting head on wall when sitting on toilet. Had a moldy smell. I had read there was coffee in the room. However, we had to pay $2 each cup (It was starbucks, but cheap powder creamer was provided.) What was the resort fee covering? It would be nice to know. cons: even though the staff explained that our room would be EXTREMELY loud due to the Fremont experience outside, we were still not prepared for how loud it was. Basically like having a live band IN YOUR ROOM until 3 am. Really the only negative!. i didnt like the mold on the ceiling in the bathroom and the mold around the tub. It was extremely loud and my room overlooked the alley which was lined with dumpsters. There were people digging through the trash and the employees sat out in the alley to take smoke breaks. Also in the morning, at 6 am, the trash truck came to empty the dumpsters! The room was less than a pleasant view and the trash truck at 6 am was beyond irritating. The noise from the bands is horrible! I was literally offered earplugs and told my room sucked when I checked in by the staff!. Noisy at night. Could easily hear neighbors. Old plumbing made loud noises with use of hot water. Could not regulate temperature of water in shower. Either too hot or too cold and it would change temp without us even touching the faucet. Our friends room was too small to even move around in. Its right next to the old strip so there is music coming through the windows most of the night. When I got there I didn't know I needed a card deposit and it took about a half hour to finally get the room I reserved. I wish I would have known this. the fact they overcharged me and did not accept my letsbookhotel.com reservation until after I got home and spoke with the manager directly. Benton made it right and took care of me, in the end though. Although my first room did not have air conditioning. Bathroom cramped, street noise veryhigh. Did not like entertainment fee that I didn't use. room to small ,could not open bathroom door all the way because it would hit toilet.it opened about half way. Was in room 220 on 2nd floor not a place to sleep with live band playing to wee morning. also are the other room where you go into the bathroom and the door opens half way before hitting the toilet, curtain maybe!. shower was bad , old water faucets could not balance temp. , air con sounded like a lawnmower, rest room door squeeky . AReception staff were very glum.lthough the deposit has been declared to be taken when booking for 1 night, $ 100 deposit received. Room was so small i was there for 4 days in a boxed room.couldnt move at all in there tiny space will not stay there again. The room was very small. The bathroom door hits toilet when opening. We feel we pay to much for that hotel . We did not like anything about it.
