The breakfast wasexcellent. we stoped at beckett guest house in feb 2009 , very friendly ,breakfast very good,clean and staff very helpfull,. easy access to York city centre - free parking - excellent breakfasts - friendly owners. Typical good guest house. breakfast. Greeting was very good and information about York was likewise. The food was excellent and worth another visit!. The distances to the city centre of York as well as from the trainstation were a bit further than was suggested on the Web site. amateur conversion to en-suite. We were offered the family room at the top of the house this was not a problem, however the decor and paintwork in the bathroom was very poor and there were holes in the walls. The shower was very poor, this area especially needs attention and the bedding needs changing.

By Rail or coach. We recommend a short taxi ride from the York City terminal, which will cost you around 3 pounds. By car. From the A1 motorway, take the A64 towards York. Shortly after driving past roadside services, which contains a service station and a MacDonald's on your right hand side, watch out for a filter lane onto the A1237 signed for York (North) and Thirsk. Follow the A1237 and at the fifth roundabout turn right onto the A19 signed for York and City Centre. Drive until you go through traffic lights at Clifton Green, you will then drive under a pedestrian footbridge at St Peter's school. On your right you will see the stone columns of The Grange Hotel, turn left at the pedestrian crossing into Bootham Crescent and proceed for 50 metres. The Beckett is on your right.
