The room was very comfortable. The attention to detail was excellent. The staff were friendly and courteous. Marmadukes is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac but in easy walking distance of the city walls.Central location to the town. Very comfortable and clean hotel with a stylish decor. Liked the DVD facilities. Quality of room furnishings and living areas. Relaxing environment a beautiful well kept english house.Location was excellent and the room was perfect for a romantic few days away. An excellent hotel. Individual rooms, friendly staff and ambiance.Friendly staff, lovely room and excellent value. excellent atmosphere and friendly efficiency. Very friendly, located close to the city. the warm reception and the service. he general aii round cumfort. Walking distance to centre. location and friendliness. The hotel room was very olde worlde which made it feel more like staying in a stately home than a hotel which is a definite plus point - it is a very welcoming and unique experience staying here.the hotel is ideal for single women travelling on their own. The staff are helpful and friendly, the rooms are lovely and the whole experience worth returning for which I have. Beautiful, small hotel, run by very friendly staff, and we had the mostenormous and delicious breakfast which was included!. Small and intimate hotel, tasteful decoration, location for what we wanted (close to the centre of York). the relaxed atmosphere.the room was very nicely laid out and individual. Four Poster Bedroom was very romantic and the garden spa was relaxing. The character, and individuality of the decor/furnishings.location and friendly staff. Dinner. A quite, clean and comfortable hotel with friendly staff. We only atesupper once at the hotel during our stay which we thoroughly enjoyed andfelt that the food and preparation was of a high standard. staff very friendly and helpful very nice continental breakfast more than enough. 1. The room was very well appointed; 2. Well situated in York. comfort and nearness to york town centre. Atmosphere, hotels decoration. Food and service of staff. Lovely room and building. The relaxing feeling when you entered the Hotel. The communal rooms were lovely. The hotel was not disapointing very pleased would recom. The location is great, just a 10 minute walk in to town.comfortable and relaxing environment. Level of upkeep of such a property. need to have a shower curtain around tub to avoid getting water everywhere. The bed was lumpy the only disappointment. However this has become thenorm in all the hotels iv ever stayed!. The bed was not very comfortable, and it was adouble which is very small these days. The temperature in the room was quite hot and difficult to regulate. Wanted to use the spa faciliites and the jacuzzi didn't work and noone was available to come to help. The knives in the dining room!. a stool or shelves missing in the bathroom to put things down on. Arrived to find they were not taking credit cards although they did take a cheque. The restaraunt advertised they specialised in "Old English Breeds", when we stayed there was no meat options only fowl and vegetarian options, this was dissappointing as it was a reason for booking the hotel.dvd player and freeview wasnt working. How hot it was temperature set at 24.5 day and night so it wasvery stuffy. We were not made aware that there was building work going on in the gardens and that the gardens were not in use as well as the sauna and hot tub facilities. This was a disappointment. A friends bedroom was ridiculously hot, even when it was -1 outside, andthey couldn't seem to change that. They had to have all the windowsopen, which seems ridiculous, and a big waste of energy.was not told that there was building work taking place. The relaxation room that was advertised was closed due to renavation . we were there on the monday when the builders were in attendance which made parking difficult. Soft mattress!. We were advised that a conference was to be held on one morning duringour stay, however we were only notified early on the morning via a noteunder our door, which meant breakfast was eaten in a public thoroughfareduring preparation (of what would normally be the breakfast room) andarrival of those attending the conference. No provision of plates, cutlery etc meant we had to ask for such items. bath shower combination did not work as nowhere to hang shower so many people use a proper shower now days. room felt incomplete.1. Could not pay by credit card, had to use PayPal on my return home; 2. The restaurant was closed and the website did not disclose this. evening meal first night excellent but 2nd night not to the same standard so slightly disappointing, possibly due to shortage of staff on that night.too smal tables at the breakfast. Couldn't get get the DVD to work. My partner is 6' 3" tall and found our beautiful antique bed a bit on the short side!. Full breakfast should be included not just continental. Staff were inefficient. Reception staff asked if we'd like help with our bag only when we were halfway up three flights of stairs, but didn't really mean it. Serving staff at breakfast were slow, unfriendly and inefficient. Croissant were re-heated and burnt from the previous day. Price of full English breakfast. Selection and cost of main menu. Lack of visible management. Whilst most individals working there werecompetant, efficient and friendly there seemed to be a lack of overallco-ordination/control (customer facing).
