What people say
The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean, and I was able to make use of all the facilites easily. Staff were most helpful. They left clean towels etc outside my room when they could not get in. Left luggage available and later check out time of 12md. I arrived early and was given a complimentary coffeee while they rushed my room cleaning.all reviews »
Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff. A great location. It's centrality - easy to access what we wanted to see, the helpfulness and efficiency of the staff, checking in and out was easy, great view of the city from my room. How the Reception staff accommodated an early book in to allow our visitto the garden Party at Holyrood Palace to be much more enjoyable. Very convenient to central Edinburgh, small but quiet, clean and comfortable room. Yhe staff were always pleasant and helpful. freedom to come and go whenever you wanted. The locality. The fact that it was just across the road once you get out from the Train Station. As a single female I found it was not intimidating as some hotels can be. The reception staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and welcoming. Excellent location, comfortable room.location, staff, building, food. central location, helpful staff. location. Hotel clean and tidy Breakfast could be improved - bog standard options and brought to table already platted would be better to have self service buffet.hotel staff very pleasant, food value for money ,perfect location for visiting city. The location was excellent!. Central Location. Liked the cleanliness of the room and the extra bit of providing abiscuit with your tea.The welcome by the receptionist Alison. great location, great view. Excellent location within walking distance from many of the attractions in Edinburgh. Front desk staff was very helpful assisting us with directions and bus information. It was convenient for the town centre and station. The room was a good size, comfortable and had adequate facilities for my short stay.It was a very convenient location. shopping ...tourist attractions...cinema. Excellent location. Price of cooked breakfast, particularly because I'm a vegetarian - I was given half a tomato, three mushrooms and a fried egg. I didn't know that I could have ordered vegetarian sausages the day before. It would have been really helpful to have one or two coat hooks in the bathroom. It needs updating...shower room particularly. A nice building, but perhaps could benefit from a little updating. A bit dated especially the corridors and landings. The lock to the door on my room seemed flimsey and there was a gap of about 1.5 inches at the bottom of the door.price for the room. very noisy room at back of hotel, party going on close by I think. rooms a little outdated , very small bathroom ,. The reception staff were nice but I thought some of the other staff could have been a bit friendlier and more pleasant.Food Average. Would have liked breakfast included in the price as other hotels didprovide breakfast for the same price.Bathroom was way out of date, bathmat was wet from lying under a dripping shower which was a tiny cubicle. Mattresses were very uncomfortable and need to be replaced. My friend swears her bed had a spring poking through the mattress--she put an extra blanket over the area in order to get some sleep. Shower stall had black mold growing in the grout. Windows did not close all of the way so the room was noisy and cold.Facilities appear old. Hotel would benefit from some updating such as new carpets and new doors in the rooms that could be operated with card keys. The large key chain is cumbersome to carry around. Our room was facing the main road and it was very noisey. Something should be done to block the noise. hotel needs updating wallpaper loose off walls our bed was not made for 3 nights we were there. I think it is ready for refurbishment, however I think this is made up for by the friendly and efficient staff, the location is excellent, this is our 2nd time staying here. Personally I would go back but would be hesitant to recommend the hotel to others. The decor is very dated and there were roof tiles missing in the room. Rooms were very run down. Shower was not very powerful. Extractor fan in bathromm was deafning. Had to change rooms as I was not impressed with the first one as it was very noisey by the high street and window did not close properly. Second room was not much better.
