I travel an awful lot and I must say the Scotsman is one of the best hotels I have ever been in. Huge room with all the trimmings. Great price. Fantastic. Noisy party revellers at 3 am outside our room on market street.The food quality of the breakfast was appaling and totally overpriced. The rooms needed airconditioners .Lighting over desk too subdued - had to go down to the bar to read. Also took a bit of time to work out how to get the TV and radio going. Arrival difficult by car. Asolutely nothing, will stay at the Scotsman on my return and have already recommended it to loads of people!. Nope, loved it all. No air-con!, Could hear road - they need better secondary glazing. the control of the room temperature during the night could be improved. Parking. Put more face tissue in the room.One lift was not working(for over aweek we were told) this caused some considerably waiting. Faint smell of cooked food in bar due to room shared with restaurant and shortage of bar type seating for same reason.The menu's were a little odd and if you had any intolerances towards food there wasn't anything plain and simple. Poor slow service at breakfast - 1hour 30 mins. relatively a leisurely paced hotel. internet access was a nuisance. Staff used, or perhaps had to use ,breakfast trays that were too large to go into the hatch. Not been a problems on previous stays. Either poor organisation of trays or an attempt to get a tip. Either way not as I would have expected. I tried to book a table to eat on one night but was told that although the room looked empty everyone was coming in during the next hour - but still empty 1 hr later. The only criticism I would have is that I thought the room was a little small and the bed in paticular. As there was a rugby international on, the price was quite high for a weekend night. You need a degree in electronics to operate the TV (although the choice is good when you get there) !. The bed - At £250 I expected a large comfortable bed. Unfortuately the bed was made up of two smaller beds pushed together and it felt like me and my partner were on different levels. The nightclub underneath emptied at 3am in the morning and was very noisy. The TV was over 6 feet above the floor, to sit and watch TV meant that you were almost looking at the ceiling!. slightly warren like, but not big issue. There was no where to chill out they had a bar resturant attached to the hotel but it wasn't very relaxing. It's not suitable for families or younger people . The closet door couldn't open because the bed blocked it. I was neverable to unpack my suitcase. Very annoying. I spoke to someone at thereception desk who said that I should never have been put in thatroom for a three night stay, but there was nothing available for achange of rooms.
