If you go to Edinburgh I really recomend you to stay on Royal Overseas League Hotel. The staff service is very kind and good facilities.. If you need to have an early breakfast there are not problem, you're going to have it on your room with all that you want to eat. I recommend the Scottish breakfast that is all included on the prize. Excelent location in the city centre, nearby to Edingurgh Waverley Railway station. There is a room called "Castle suite" with a marvelous sight of Edinburgh's C.
all reviews » -Friendly staff. -Great location- only a short walk to key places (waverley, castle, etc). -Room nicely furnished. -Extremely comfortable bed, the best nights sleep that I've had in a long time. -Nice atmosphere. -The cost to stay was the lowest that I could find in the area on that night (just £57), yet you wouldn't have thought it for how nice the place was. Because of this, I would definitely stay again and will recommend to others. Main advantage is the location - close to both railway station and the castle. Castle is right opposite - at the top of the rock - so we were going there by these hop-on-hop-off buses. And back to the hotel it is easy to walk down the hill. Hotel itself is quite old but cozy. Staff is nice and friendly. Bed was just superb - matress, linens, blankets - all of a 5-star hotel quality. Overall, great choice to spend 1 or 2 nights. A great hotel and perfect staff. The breakfasts were fantastic and the views from the bedrooms and from the meal area were breath taking. . . The Castle and the Mound Park were great. Location of the hotel right in the middle of Princess street for shopping and the bars behind. Short walk to The Old Town. Cant wait to go back again. The hotel itself is a grand old lady -getting a bit of needed attention and upgrading at the moment, so a bit of plaster dust about in public areas, but the room was fine. The location is really good, just on the princess street. And the hotel kindly arrange a room which towards the street for me so I can see the castle from my window. That's really nice! The breakfast is tasty and the staffs are nice and helped me to book a taxi. Couldn't fault the hotel, it was so near the railway station and with a view overlooking the castle what is not to like! The staff were really friendly and helpful and the bed was cosy and comfortable. We shall definitely return. The room was lovely, even though it wasn't the best view -but we don't expect all rooms to have a panoramic view. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was superb and the staircase charming. The location is super to watch the Virgin money fireworks which closed the International Festival. What a fantastic hotel and what a view from our bedroom window and from the restuarant of the castle Me and my mum wanted to bring our beds back with us as they were so comfortable. The free breakfast was fantastic and the room was quite spacious. The staff were amazingly friendly and accommodating. I dont think theres anything they couldnt do for their guests. The hotel is undergoing some rennovation and this seems to be much needed: the lift is very small and needs upgrading. The room wasn't very sound proof. You could hear footsteps so loudly that it felt as though they were in your room. Nothing .. nothing. slightly damp smell in entrance...but is an old building. no bath only a shower. No view in my room (looked onto a wall hidden my mirrored glass, but as I arrived at 10pm and left 8am this wasn't a problem. The heated towel-rail didn't work, which was not such a problem as they changed the towels daily. It's just a small thing. Not really a problem. Lift is a bit small. Very small lift, which only goes to the 4th floor (we were on the 5th). It's barely a complaint really, but worth a mention I guess. The taps and showers do need attention. nothing!. The view from the room window was a brick wall. Old fashioned lift frightened me a little. Quite disappointing that when we returned to the hotel for a nightcap to be informed that the bar closed at10pm although resident at hotel. Window in bathroom couldn't open. Very soft bed. the food we had was ok but I had a steak and asked for medium and it came out rare when I told waitress she took it away but was not offered any compensation for ruined meal. Really, just the old elevator that adds more flavor to the hotel. Looking out onto an air shaft. Shower, you had to stand right underneath it. scaffolding and dirty windows. only down sides were the decor in public areas as on the stairs both mornings some plaster had fallen on the floor off the walls and ceiling, also we were on the top floor and the windows were v small and too high to see out of also very dirty. Rather small room and no bath. had to tune TV in little bit cold in room at 7am in morning. Nothing. Mousetrap in bedroom, bath very high, funny whistling noise you could hear all night, and footsteps from room or stairs above. There were lots of places in the hotel closed for repairs. Room faced rear of hotel. No view just a carpark and rear ends of buildings!!! Was disappointed but didn't let us spoil our break. Nothing.
